Find your "goalie" yet? Got many banging your door? When is your first game? Talk about issues.

You need help. There are good meds out there for anger and paranoia. See the doctor. The only one with issues here is you.

soccer snobs... Good luck on finding your goalie. If you don't have something positive to offer, keep quiet.

I second that. Good luck to you finding a goalie! We hope to see you with a good one (not too good though) :) and see you in the Spring.

From that serious keeper's point of view you have basically told them the clubs sees them as an after thought. Believe it or not that is a big complaint with keepers who often end up getting no training from their club and a whole lot of grief from people who blame them when things go bad. You might as well just stick a field player in net.
I nominate this for the DUMBEST post of the year so far.

Call me a keeper, goalie, goalkeeper, keep, last line of defense or the guy wearing the ugly shirt or the ugly guy in the goal. It does not matter!

Second that. Sounds like a a over the top GOALIE mom. Wonder if she had a kid playing hockey in Foxboro the other night?

Wow. So you feel justified in publically attacking some person because you THINK they might have written something you don't like. I don't know who any of you are but I sure hope that you are not reading something into this situation that wasn't really there. In any event you are certainly making it seems like there might be more to the story why the team needs a keeper and that has to make your search all that much more difficult. You should have just ignored what was a fairly benign criticism. As the parent of a keeper, I will tell you that what they were saying wasn't actually all that far off mark.

Right. Because you likely posted it.

You are parsing semantics and regional colloquiallisms. The terminology for soccer (football) varies in the US depending on where you were raised and what your age is. I know some good coaches who use the terms fullback, halfback, and forward. If they are competent who cares. Striker/forward, midfielder/halfback, defender/sweeper/stopper/fullback, goalie, goalkeeper, keeper..... who cares? Some say pitch - some say field, some say goal others say net, some say PK some say penalty kick. Some say matrix, some say box. Everyone is talking about the same thing and how we were raised in the game influences how we speak about it. I have never called the game footie but respect those who do so.

Good thing he didn't ask for a goaltender. That, I believe, would be a capital crime.

As a parent of a keeper, I can tell you he doesn't really care what the "official" name is, just that he's out there having fun at something he loves. I can't believe people got up on their high horse on this subject.

I think this whole thread (with the exception of the initial harmless request) should be nominated for the dumbest award. The bigger issue is that people come on here looking for players in the first place but this isn't the first club that has done it.

As the parent of a keeper I can safely say that most teams don't even think about how they treat their keepers, which is generally not all that great. I personally thought that was the main point the first poster was making. Few coaches understand the position or do much of anything in the way of training for them. It also costs more to play the position because you have buy the gloves (which only last a couple of weeks at the youth level) and then have to pay for special training on top. Just take it as food for thought next time the striker's dad starts bitching about a goal. BTW, thank god most of them can't put the ball in the ocean. :)

As another keeper's mom, I think you should stop stirring the pot with ALL your thinly veiled snippy posts. You obviously have striker mom envy. Get over it. The guy/gal in the net is the most important player on the field, and everyone knows it. I can't even imagine the antics you must produce on the sidelines.
