AB much more physical and appeared to want to win. LS almost looked like they were just going through the motions, no intensity and no midfield which was supposed to be their strength. Both team had reasonable attacking opportunities but not a lot of them. Both defenses looked shaky at best.

AB won straight away and no excuses but LS didn't play the game the way they have for the previous 12 games, including a win over AB 2-0. They were tentative and AB wasn't. AB won nearly every 50/50 ball.

Injuries to two central midfielders will and did have a major effect. Adjustments were necessary to try to bolster the midfield gaps. These adjustments broke up a back four that had only given up a handful of goals all season, put on a talented player in the back who was back on the field for her first game of the season and although she played well the communication just wasn't there. It also shifted players into positions that they haven't played for a long time. The style of play also suffered because they moved away from their approach that had won 12 games, building up play through the midfield, which they demonstrated at times yesterday that they could still do, to trying to play over the top to target players, which didn't work.

They might be in trouble, or they might figure it out over the next three games before the tournament. They still have a fair amount of talent. They need to stay healthy for the rest of the season and get back to playing the ball on the ground through the midfield.
This is total excuses. I haven't seen any answers to this:

LS has 4 players on the DCL leaderboard for scoring. Was one of them out? LS has a goalkeeper on the top of the DCL leaderboard. Was she out?

Every team has injuries over the course of the season and needs to adjust. I didn't see yesterday's game, but I saw the first LS-AB matchup and the game was very even. 2-0 certainly wasn't the blow-out that you want to make it out to be.

Of course. But just as obviously, some injuries are harder to adjust to than others.

Have to agree here. Look at what happened to Millbury when they lost their central defender about this time last year due to an injury. Completely changed the outcome of everything I believe. There was no time to adjust. JMO

              Well, I really think............

Peabody is the best team.....with Central, Andover, Action tied for second........

WHAT DO YOU THINK? AFTER ALL IT IS JUST CHAT?

i would agree with that. But there are more than those teams tied for second... I think peabody is the best team if you go and watch them play you will see why. With Central Catholic, CC, Andover, Acton, and LS tied for second. and the reason i have all those team tied for second is because if they got matched up against eachother i would have no idea who would win. It could go either way.

This sarcastic "oh, they beat a D2 school" thing is a little annoying, mostly because it is based on complete misunderstanding. D1 vs D2 in high school is totally different than NCAA D1 vs D2, or D1 MAPLE vs D2 MAPLE. There is no divisional correlation to the quality of athletes or athletic prowess of the schools in general at the high school level. When Sandwich (boys) was ranked #1 in the state you didn't see anyone saying "oh, they can't be ranked #1 because they are a D2 school." And many thought D2 Concord-Carlisle boys were the best team in the state last year regardless of divisions. Similarly, Duxbury has a very strong reputation and history athletically that is not limited by its D2 status (which is ONLY about the number of students and often there are very small differences in number of students between D1 and D2 high schools). Folks love to take shots at W-H and their coach, but give them some credit. They won their 4th Patriot League title in a row, and this time without any Mewises or Pettas.

Everyone knows its based on enrollment, nothing new there but the thought is that the more kids you can field a team from, they better they should be.

Weymouth clinched their second straight bay state league title last night. I think the BSL qualified 8 or their 12 teams for the tournament. Interesting to see how it will play it out.

What are you talking about? Nauset can't compete in the ACL and every girl on the team knows it. They have starters who don't even play town soccer in the spring, let alone club. They will literally not touch a ball until next August. They may have a large school, but they don't have a large pool of soccer players let alone athletes.

So, snooty Chatham mom, next time instead of bragging how you are going to kick Nauset butt before the game, realize it's all relative. Nauset would crush every team in the Cape & Islands league, but in turn, close to every team in the ACL league crushes Nauset. Nauset doesn't belong in either league. D-Y is in the same boat.

I just wonder how often this happens?? How many leagues statewide have one or two teams that just don't belong (either running the table or getting killed). It can't be good for any high school girls psyche to know they are going to win every game 9-0 or they are going to go into every game knowing that they cannot compete at the speed of the game being played.

I would think that some kind of global MIAA review would reposition teams if they would have a better competitive schedule in another division or even force an independent schedule.
