She was there and did quite well actually. She is a gifted player but the few opportunities she had were handled by the AB defense. CC is extremely fit and physical but they lost because they couldn't build up through the middle at all. Very boot it long - even for high school. That said I expected them to let down and they never did. Lots of heart on that team. Despite the score their defense was incredible disciplined - there must have been 30 offside calls against AB.Originally posted by Unregistered View Post
First/winning goal by AB was one of those low percentage long shots from the 40 you take to keep the defenders/middies honest - but this one was perfectly hit and went in dipping just below the bar out of the keeper's reach. The track star who now starts at AB had two breakaways finishing both with the appropriate shot at the right time (one low to the corner and one deaked over the keeper's head again just sneaking in below the bar.) The other goal was a scrum where the ball was sent toward the goal by the AB senior star forward and bounced off a defender into the goal. All four goals were scored first half.Comment

Outcome should not be a shock to anyone who pays attention to the DCL. AB is a quality side and very well coached. CC is kick and run and their "top player" is, quite frankly, their only good player. AB is populated with talent. Covering the CC player is really not too difficult and it is more a matter of whether a team wants to try to play their own style or man-mark a dangerous attacker. They really don't have any other scoring threats.Comment
