D1 in MIAA but small division in DCL

He is still at MPS and coached a few of the AB players last year. He has a new administrative job though - Breakers and a college keeper job I hear..

AB didn't get lucky - they outplayed CC. Whether they are "all that" I don't know but they were certainly substantially better than CC that night.

P.S. I seem to remember one of those slow centers dispossessed AO three or four times. It's not always about foot speed.

The book is out on Concord-Carlisle High’s team: Stop Andrea O’Brien (31 goals, seven assists), the leading scorer in Eastern Massachusetts, and a win is in sight.

“I think it’s a mistake to think Andrea is the only way we score,’’ said Slocum, in her 14th year coaching the Patriots. “But I can see why people can draw that conclusion. She’s able to score in a variety of ways. She’s difficult to stop. But I think we have many people who are capable of scoring.’’
Slocum's quote is interesting - I would only say that CC could very well have others who have scoring potential but in pressure situations, the team, on the field, clearly looks to AO predominantly. Perhaps the on-field team doesn't have the confidence in the other forwards to get the job done. Slocum should look at the team dynamic during games.

Anyone know the regular season games-played-by deadline, Nov. 3rd?
Could not find it on MIAA site.

                  CC-Matignon

Just my observation watching CC play Matignon twice. I fully expected CC to crush Matignon, but surprisingly CC led only 3-2 15 mins into the second half of the 1st game and then scored 4 straight goals when matignon pressed. In the second game it was tied with a minute to go when CC scored the game winner. Now, I understand sports. I know CC didn't approach these game like they would have a league rival or a top tier team but I have to say aside from their physical statures I didn't see anything too frightening if I was a top Div 1 team. Matignon is a very good div 3 team that has played a tough schedule and won't be in the tournament which annoys some because teams like Shawsheen play NOBODY and strut into the tourney like they have actually accomplished something. CC will be a second round casualty.....just my 2 cents.

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on whom you support -

                      AB 3-0 LS

                        Peaking at the right time

AB looked strong and LS not so much. Didn't look like a 12-0 team in the much vaunted DCL. This was the first DCL game I have attended all season and neither team looked like a category killer. AB much more physical and appeared to want to win. LS almost looked like they were just going through the motions, no intensity and no midfield which was supposed to be their strength. Both team had reasonable attacking opportunities but not a lot of them. Both defenses looked shaky at best.

Andover will cruise through D-1 North. Even if AB is finally hitting its stride they don't seem to have what it takes to go far in the post season this year. Unless LS just had a bad game they won't last much longer than AB. A lot will depend on the draw and in theory Westford could show well like they did last year. I have seen CC play and defense wins tournaments and they are a bit lacking in that respect.

Good luck everybody. The real season is right around he corner.

Unfortunately for LS, they lost their #1 central midfielder who directs the flow.

CC isn't lacking in defense. I have seen many of their games, they are fine on the defense. They can't score for their living daylights though. They will be right in-front of the net and still miss. I would also disagree that defense wins tournaments..... fitness will win you a high school championship.

The other starting midfielder went to the hospital early in the AB game as well. No question, AB came to win. LS did not return the pressure - it will be interesting to see how the season ends. AB has likely the softest end to the season in the DCL

Which I guess means that their record reflects that they've had it harder up to now?
