WH coach used to pull his forward (now at NU) off once score was up by 3 or 4. She was chasing a record but he pulled anyway. She could've easily added significantly to her totals

Have you ever seen them play? They are a possession team. Personally, I think their defense is much stronger than their offense and their goalie is solid.

Yes I have, I'm told they have several Club players but they don't play like it. it must be one of those low level Clubs nobody has ever heard of before.

Unfortunately, club players without a strong supporting group in a poor soccer situation aren't going to be able to shine. I saw Peabody play this season and I wouldn't even know that there was a special player on the team. Not taking anything away from that player. It is just that if you are playing on a tiny crappy field with players that can't play at the same level, you are never going to play like you can. It is difficult to play your game.

Agree. Which Peabody game did you see?

I agree with your first statement. But your second statement tells me you should never, ever think about becoming a soccer scout. ;)

Very funny. I absolutely don't have any aspirations of being a scout. But seriously, about 2/3 of the way through the game, someone reminded me that she was on the team and I was shocked. When I started focusing on her, it is obvious that she is a solid player, but it wasn't like...wow who is that player...which is what I would have expected. Again, nothing against her.

Again, just curious as to what game that was. Who were they playing that day?

I know, just teasing. Even the best forwards in the world will have trouble performing at their best if the midfield support isn't up to par.

But more club players isn't necessarily the answer. I have seen a high school team underperform because of the lack of chemistry or rivalry or whatever it was between club players. The play wasn't always unselfish.

I have total sympathy for the OP on this one. My son is on a top club team and he has some truly outstanding teammates scattered throughout his HS league. I can't tell you how painful it is to see some of them play on their mediocre HS teams. I've been watching these kids for years, they are really strong players, many of them on various academy teams, and they can't get anything done out there without a good team around them. Sure their skills are there, but it's not like they can shine. It's depressing!
