Nobles 3 - Groton 1

Groton dominated for the first 30 minutes but couldn't score. Nobles scored on 2 corner kicks in the last 10 minutes of the first half and took the wind out of Groton's sails. The second half started with Nobles having the run of play but Groton hanging tough and getting some chances. It looked like Groton was making a comeback when they scored but Nobles had other plans. Nobles scored their 3rd on a defensive mistake leading to a breakaway and put the game away, only minutes after Groton's goal. All in all, a pretty good game.

#2 from Nobles is pretty impressive. The game seemed to change when she moved from striker to center mid. If I'm not mistaken, she took both corner kicks that went in the net. I don't think either of them were touched by a Nobles player. She also scored on the breakaway. Dominating player!

Agree that #2 is their most obviously strong player, good pace, vision and can whip them in from the outside. Doesn't fare quite as well w/tight marking and gets frustrated when bottled up. Not afraid to take a crack at her marker's ankles after getting beaten either.

If #2 is the BC bound kid who plays for Stars U-18 ECNL (after several years with MPS) than I agree she is a great player. I think she is at her best when she is orchestrating the attack from the midfield and taking shots from distance when the opportunities arise and not trying to force the action or take on multiple defenders (ala Bacon). I don't see her thriving as a forward. It may be that Nobles is asking her to do more this year as a senior team leader because they are not as strong up top as in previous years.

This tie may bode bad news for Rivers when they play their last game of the season against the mighty nobles? Did Thayer get some injured players back or did Rivers sustain some injurie?

Thayer and MX as previousely stated might be on the bottom of the standings, but they are not slouches. Rivers 1 MX 0 was another almost tie as well. Nobles 2 MX 0 etc... Neither of these teams are horrible or an easy mark. The majority of the games that they have lost have been by one goal with a few ties thrown in.

In the bag? They still have to play Brooks, Rivers, and Milton. No sure bets. Both Nobles and Milton have control of their own destiny at this point..if either wins all remaining games them they will win the ISL. Nobles looks to be the favorite right now but definitely not in the bag yet.
