That is like buying a Hyundai because it looks like a Mercedes Benz. A good car and from a distance it even looks like a MB on the road. H/E when you get up close and see it; you see that it will still struggle versus the BMW's on the road.

In the end, you will see what it really is. A fake. That dog just won't hunt. It is made to look better then it really is. No matter how you paint that picture, Stars West is still just what it is. Western Mass players bouncing around from club to club searching for the grass that is greener or in this case sky's of blue!

Goes to show how bad it is in Western Mass. When everyone there knows that two clubs living out there now in WU and Pioneers do not keep up with the reality which is FC Stars and now NEFC. So what does RL do? Stars a third club in the area along with the other start up in FC Mass.

Now that is how to sell a good idea. Take limited resources in the number of players that have the ability to play and do well and divide them up into four teams. Brilliant thought process!

NEFC, Stars, Scorpions or any club for that matter will never have to worry about a Western Mass team. The dumb wonna be idiots that go out and start new club after new club and thin out the pool of players and never allow a true team to become a reality.

So I ask this question to those who may be dreaming; why would you as a parent not just go play for Stars? If your daughter is that good and that dedicated to playing the game, what are you waiting for?

So, I agree with your post. It killed the momentum of Stars West. It is easy to kill what is nothing more then a dream. All you have to do is wake up and smell the coffee.

maybe this bitter litle parent has seen some of the top Pioneers and WU players over at some of the Stars West clinics. There is interest in having some options. How can't there be interest from some of these parents. Pioneers have not scored a goal this year and have sunk to the bottom of Blue were there will need to play themselves into the Irwin Cup. Just to many weak players over there that are kept around for no good reason. WU, despite a big win last week are seeing an exodus of top players. they may pull an upset once in a while but will not be able to sustain that level without top talent. Hustle can only get you so far. WU will probably go out next game and lose to a team they should beat. There needs to be changesout west and there will be or all teams will stay irrelevent.

Stars West is running "clinics" during the MAPLE season that is attracting players from Pioneers and WU? Perhaps these parents see the RL/Stars connection as an stepping stone to the real Stars program in a few years? For a few it may be. The grass is, indeed, always greener.

Very sad to see 2 clubs coming apart in mid season and another club running regularly scheduled clinics to help draw them away. Wonder if any SDA players are going or if they will just replace the WU and Pioneer players who leave. Musical chairs on the Titanic if you ask me.

SDA is just a glorified REC program, a couple players, thats it.

Sort of my point though I think that is a very harsh assessment. There are probably a dozen decent players out there spread out over 2 teams (pioneers and WU) and a far west team - SDA. Add a 4th club (Stars West) and you will get even more dilution and disappointment.

The talent exists in Central and Western Mass to compete with the best. There are plenty of very skilled HS and Prep school players to choose from. Unfortunately it's too diluted, with players that could put a team over the top driving east to Stars or South to CFC or Soccer Plus. If a team emerges from the current shake out that can attract the bulk of talent from the area, the West will rise again.

Who REALLY cares about a club running clinics? Club soccer IS musical chairs, right? Our club is running a clinic this week to raise revenue and its nothing new. Clubs have to bring in money. If you were running a clinic and didn't take down contact info, lets be honest, parents would be pointing out a very skilled player and want him/her for their team too so its a bit disingenuous to complain about it. I'm not condoning it nor approving but there are much harsher things to worry about than a club running clinics. With the bad weather, whats wrong with three days of foot skills and keeping a ball on their feet? We're probably "jumping off the merry go round" after the spring season to move on to other things so I'm hardly recruiting for them, its just something the kid can benefit from (contrary to popular opinion on this site).

Sorry in this case all it is is a highly organized, very thinly veiled attempt to lure an entire WU team over to Stars West

                    Pioneers also

RL would never do that to his old employer.

He doesn't have to, families want to leave all on their own.

It may amaze some of you, but in most cases, none of us from out west really care what you think when it comes to making decisions for our kids. However, I will say this once again, I don't care what club logo my kid wears at this age, as long as she's getting great coaching, the rest will shake out when it really matters..after U13.

That's cool. I just hope you have told your coach and teammates what you are planning to do so those left behind know they won't have a team next season.
