Let people make their own choices!
I am constantly amazed by these posts. Let parents be parents, kids be kids, and allow the teams to develop based on what the parents and kids think is best. Ranting and raving about losing a player or player movement does no one any good! Focus on your own team, and leave others alone, or let the performance on the pitch speak for itself. We lost a few awesome kids from our team this year to what they felt was a better opportunity. Can't say we won't miss them (great kids and families) but what are you going to do? The club they went to is bigger, has a history of quality teams, and contrary to what has been said here, the coach is well respected by many very knowledgeable soccer people! If you lose players to another team either move on yourself, or help make your own club the best it can be.

The Pioneer Philosophy: primitive style of coaching (scream and belittle players) and style of play (win at all costs, physical play before skill, and forego development to attain the wins) has finally caught up with them. Western overextended itself and paid the ultimate price. TM seemed burned out this year, and was trying to coach too many teams. The U!2 coaches from this past season just weren't dynamic enough or talented enough and this allowed the players and parents to become disjointed and to look elsewhere for training.
The bottom line is...players/parents wouldn't have been looking elsewhere if the Pioneers or Western were doing their jobs. Instead of defending these clubs, take an honest look at WHY players are leaving. People can't be lured away if they are happy where they are. Its as simple as that. You can say its all the parents fault, but be honest, EM was a terrible coach who wasted the talent he had and the WU coaches are just not good enough to coach the calliber of player they were handed.
If this was town soccer with volunteer coaches and minimal fees, then you might have a gripe but since parents pay THOUSANDS, they should get better than what the PIoneers and WU have offered this age group.

In response to winning
Correct me if I am wrong. We were told that if the team my child was on did not win we would get knocked out and would not have a spot in maple. Is it true that if the team does not place well by winning they will lose their spot in maple?
