And yes, everyone has an absolute right to pursue their dream and try to do their best. One minute posts on here are criticizing club soccer players who want to "settle" for D3 college soccer, and the next minute they are criticizing someone for holding out for one of the top colleges in the country. Total hypocrisy.
See below. OK to better to best, which is exactly the point I was trying to illustrate. I rest my case.
No one has said a word about players "settling" for D3. No one has said a word about kids shooting for the top schools in the country. Posters have been taken to task when they feel a need to explain a D3 commitment by saying the kid COULD have played D1. Most of us do not think most kids "settle" for D3. We think kids end up at D3 because basically that is the level where they belong.
One last thing on the PG thing. What would you say if everyone did a PG year? Or if they just made high school 5 years? Don't you get that you only gain an advantage by virtue of so few electing (or being able) to go that route? I get the argument that if an avenue is available folks are entitled to maximize any and all opportunities, but I'm just sayin' (as they say).

Great athletes, but not sure about their future. There is nothing cookie cutter elitist about the PG year.
I don't think anyone has their "boxers in a bunch" about kids who really do need a PG year in order to academically qualify at ANY school.
