    [QUOTE=Unregistered;460541]Based on what data?

    And 2010 wasn't even that strong. 2009 and 2008 were stronger.

    One possibility in addition to 2011 being weak is that some of these posters are correct....DAP is making a big difference but the greatest impact is on the MA DAP kids. DAP as a national program is actually hurting the MA DAP kids more than the non-DAP kids. Spots that previously might have been taken by upper-tier local kids (now playing DAP) are going to better DAP kids from other areas.[/QUOTE

    never thought of it that way, but it makes a lot of sense. since the academy is so structured, a d1 coach in new england has many more opportunities to see out of region players with the academy showcases and the scheduling of the spring matches. therefore they don't have to rely on local talent as much. out of the 9 d1 ma players so far, only 3 are playing for d1 mass teams (BC and HC) that doesn't bode well for future recruits.

I just think that there have not been as many talking soccer posters letting us know like there was last year.
        All three Divisions for 2010 are still visible.

          same here. I think I know what happened though. There was a Boston Globe article - "where the locals are going" or something like that, that listed where a lot of football, soccer, and other sports players where going to school. I recall that many to most of the soccer names from that list made it onto the ESPN Rise list. I thought it odd that they listed D3. Did they do that at all before 2010?

          To be frank, I wished at the time that neither article ran. One of the joys of D3 sports is that students can enjoy playing their sports at a pretty competitive level, especially in some conferences, while remaining under the radar with regard to all of the competition and bashing about D1 prospects.

            Good point from a different perspective.

              I counted the following off the 2010 talking soccer thread:
              D1=19
              D2= 21
              D3= 41

              The 2011 list currently shows the following number of kids from MA:
              D3: 1
              D2: 0
              D1: 8
              A total of 9 kids from MA listed.

              The 2010 list of kids from MA is very different:
              D3: 28
              D2: 0
              D1: 19
              For a total of 42 kids from MA listed.
              (One kid, AB, appears on the 2010 list for Bryant, and on the 2011 list for Holy Cross).

              I think everyone will agree that more than 9 Massachusetts graduates will end up playing college soccer next fall. And I think we all know kids from last year and from this year that are committed to colleges that aren't listed on ESPN RISE.

              So can we please stop pointing to this web site as the definitive source for college soccer commitments?

                Are you from Florida and involved in the counting of Presidential ballots?

                Either you misunderstood the numbers that were counted, or you're seeing imaginary things.

                So to clarify, the counts were the number of kids from Massachusetts who were on the ESPN Rise verbally committed list. There are ZERO on the 2010 list in D2. The rest of the counts are also correct.

                  "I counted the following off the 2010 talking soccer thread"

                  I am not talking about the 2010 espn rise listing

                  Look at the 2010 TALKING SOCCER thread which compiled the local d1,d2 and d3 players, there are most certainly players at d2 schools. The listing is more complete than the espn rise listing. This provides are more accurate number of 2010 graduates playing college soccer

                    Most of the list compiled from the threads here is hearsay at best. As in: "I heard from my older sister's ex boyfriend's first wife that her second cousin twice removed heard from her brother that Jimmy Landon has decided to go to Faber College".

                      I believe the 2010 list was compiled from actual college rosters...

                        You are correct. However, in that thread, there were several links to the college rosters. There is no single source for all of the information, but, it was a decent compilation of the class of 2010,

                          The 2010 list was pretty good in terms of the reliability of who appeared on it, and for the most part seemed to be compiled without looking at college rosters. In fact, 90 per cent of the list appeared on this site by January of last year. Some additions/adjustments occurred in subsequent months, but overall what was posted last January looks very similar to the "final product". This forum is a tough crowd, and parents/kids know they are open to scrutiny from teammates/families on their team as well as people who know them in the soccer community at large (which no doubt partially explains the hesitation with posting announcements this year coupled with the vitriol that clearly is not inviting), so I don't buy that there would be a lot of deceptive reporting. I would assume that most of the commitments-type of info on specific players is fairly reliable. Omission is the most likely inaccuracy, as there were 2010 kids who never made the list who are playing college soccer, including some non-club players.

                            Maybe we should just move on to 2012.

                            Any more commitments in the '12 class besides the CT kid?

                              just start a mass 2012 commit forum instead. i could be off by 1 or 2 but i counted there are 6 mass 2011 bolts daps and 11 ma rev daps that are still uncommited and we are just a few weeks from national signing day. that's pretty sad that these elite teams get very few of their players to d1 level. even teams like seacoast united have more kids going d1. guess that shows how little college coaches think of the talent pool in mass.

                                I'm sure there a good number that know, just don't wish to take the criticism from knuckleheads on this site who stand in judgement of their choices or who twist the numbers to justify why they feel one club is better than another. Good luck to all of them and congratulations for continuing their careers in college.
