All kids who are being recruited by different D1 schools and haven't decided.

That's great hope they and you all end up at your 1st choice and do well at your college destination. Not sure what "It is not ignorant it is the truth" statement is about though?

Really. The last time I checked one of the Revs has already committed to Cincy. So, makes me wonder how accurate the rest of the list is.

keep dreaming kid, if they were any good they would have commited back in the spring or summer. the bolts goalies are reserve d1 goalies at best, probably start for d2 or d3. cd and FDB are d1 level but the i doubt the rest could even make a d1 roster. which schools are they "deciding on?"

MR is definitely a D1 caliber player

What is wrong with D2 or D3. Would rather my kid get a good education and play some rather than say they are at a D1 school sitting on the bench

I'll play...Without matching players to schools, what are the D1 schools?

At this point, "deciding on a school", probably means that they haven't heard from admissions yet and did not apply EA. Which if true, means that the coach didn't stress the EA application because these players are down on the depth chart and there is no money involved.

Let's be honest. You are not a serious D1 recruit if you are mulling over your D1 options in January of your senior or post-senior year. Doesn't mean a kid won't land on a roster and work his way into significance with a lot of effort and some luck, but the odds are shrinking, especially for those kids who essentially have gone through two full recruiting cycles. These scenarios sound closer to walk-on or "invitation to tryouts if you come" rather than recruit.

What if your son got on the radar screen of a DI soccer coach from a very good academic school - no promise of playing time, but willing to go to bat for you at admissions, would you turn that down to play DII or III?

Where I'm going with the question is, one step at a time; don't presume a DI education isn't good, or that a DII or DIII one is better. For most families, if their soccer talents are good enough to "just" get the coach at the school of their choice to advocate for them at admissions, that may be "all" you will ever get back from all you have put in, but that may be what differentiates you/your kid from all the other applicants and gets you in - how awesome would that be!

Playing time is part of the calculus each kid and their family will work out for themselves in figuring out the school of their choice. That said, as noted over and over here and other forums, how ever you work out that calculus, go for the strongest academics you can given your priorities.

                          Good luck.

Is the issue being a "recruit" or being a player?

I won't argue the issue about being a recruit - someone offered a scholarship of some sort, but at this point, just because you aren't a "recruit", doesn't mean you don't have the talent to play DI.

There are many DI programs, they may not be perennial soccer powers (but in soccer its who's peaking at the right time - UMass/Amherst a few years ago), but they are solid academic schools, where you can get a great education, that are filling out their rosters with players who may not have gotten into their first choice schools.
