This game was very entertaining to watch and NEFC did have a chance but their best hope was to try to get to pk's. They(NEFC) never really threatened to score and one of the weaknesses of a younger team shone through. They had no power on anything that went toward FSA's goal. I must say there were times when they outplayed FSA through the midfield and their defense seemed to clear loose balls repeatedly. I've read here that this team is going to play u13 in the fall. I'm not sure that's true but if it is the size disadvantage is going to be a concern. Several NEFC players were hurt during the game, one on a kicked ball that knocked the wind out of a player and another on a collision at midfield. This team is clearly the best at it's age level but if you continue to play up especially when the teams your playing have gone through puberty and yours is underage it seems like a recipe for someone to get seriously hurt. I'm not from NEFC but it was a pleasure to watch both teams. Especially good sportsmanship on the FSA coach and player regarding an injured NEFC player's wellbeing. Just my observations.

I totally agree with your observations about that game. What's more impressive to me, is that the next night they beat a very strong GU12 Lusitana team to get a seed in the Paul Irwin Cup.

Your observation about the team playing up is somewhat true, and they will definitely struggle with size issues. However, they are a good enough team that it will only benefit them in the future. They'll lose games because they are smaller and less mature, but who cares? I expect the Stars team to do the same thing and play U13 in the NEP next season.

The reason the FSA coach was so concerned about the NEFC player's well being is that he was embarassed by his player's behavior. He shouted at her and forced her to apologize.

Do not agree with NEFC BB and Stars JD playing up (U13) in NEP this coming fall. I do not think any team in any league should be able to play up. I do agree that some players should be able to play up if good enough but not the entire team. It is not good for development of all players involved. I am surprised that NEP would allow this to happen.

I will agree with your logic on all these points but what about the other teams that will follow because why should NEFC BB and Stars JD get special treatment and who decides. Will Western United, NEFC NB, and Scoprions KD play U13 this fall too. Prime example was SSS LL playing U12 just because NEFC BB did. They should not have been playing U12 this spring.

Stars JD is a little different story. If his team is not finding the challenge it wants vs the available U11 teams, that explains his apparent reasoning for jumping to U13 NEP. There will be some amount of on the job training for his kids until the 11v11 thing starts to get more comfortable. But again, isn't NEP perhaps a better place to do that than MAPLE?
