Re: FCGB Names New Director of Girls Programs

As her first act as the new asst director of girls coaching, she should update her team's webpage. It still lists Desmond as the coach and has game scores from two years ago.

Crikey! They also are using a team picture that is 2 years old. All those players are now playing elsewhere.

            What's new?
Do they have teams at U15 and U16? If so, what tournaments?

The photo on their U16 page is of the Stars U16 Rovers, well at least 60 % of it anyway. They only care about the boys side anyway

Not all clubs have college coaches. I don't believe that any of the Stars coaches are college or HS coaches.
Or they have coaches running both girls and boys teams < shiver /> ... And we all know that it is a COMPLETELY different psychology coaching girls instead of boys and .... we all know where the focus of the coaches attention will go (Boys team ! ).

The girls program is in freefall and the Fall did NOT help because the core issues have not been addressed....its not just the wins and losses, it is the obvious lack of time or focus on the girls side that has parents running to the door...

I hadn't heard that Bolts girls parents were running to the door. In fact I heard just the opposite. That their new girls director and asst director have revived some teams and they have a new girls U-10 team. I think there maybe some backlash coming from some clubs having multiple teams at one age group. This may come back to haunt them.

I have heard about many players that have left or wanted to leave since the Fall. Freefall is still a pretty accurate description and it will take a huge effort that hasn't been evident yet to turn it around.

If players are flocking to the Bolts, are they planning to field a U15 or U16 this spring?

U-10 may be Ok and U-11 seemed to do quite well...

                        U-12. U-13 and U-14 were DOA.....

Last Spring, they did not have one (girls) team with a winning record.

I do not think freefall is to harsh....

The ongoing lack of a response here has given you your answer. Doesn't sound good. The 15 and 16s are telling their families that they have a revival of a sort coming and to stay quiet and surprise everyone by coming out and winning big. They are drinking some expired Gatorade over there. (How long can you store that stuff next to antifreeze?)

SO the BOLTS U-18 girls that won the state cup and have MANY D1 college players doesn't count??????
                            Free fall...I think NOT

One successful team does not define a club. Great that the U18's did well last year and had so many girls going on to wonderful college experiences. The one poster was correct - the U11 to U14 fall results were attrocious. The U13 and U14 teams had 1 win each and were demoted - U14 to MASC. The U15 and U16 teams imploded and no one but the small carryover of players from last year - reported as being no more than 8 girls per team - are still trying to get a team together. That is "free fall." No less than CRU or Fuller-Hamlets.
