Mexico isn't much safer than some of the countries they left. Central American immigrants are threated and treated terribly by Mexicans. They're not safe there either. You're not required to request amnesty during traveling

Several hundred dollars per day per person to detain them while electronic monitoring costs less that $20bucks/day. Someone is making a ton of money with these detention centers. Then there's the cost of transportation the kids and putting them in childcare centers or foster care. Money could be used to hire more attorneys and move judges to help with the backlog of immigration and amnesty cases - which have more than doubled under the rump administration, all while immigration has stayed pretty constant for years. Wouldn't the cons prefer immigrants be processed quickly and deported quickly if their case fails? Yeah I thought so
