Crime went down in El Paso after the wall was built in 2008 even while the city population went up. Just look at the numbers from the city's data base itself. The critical number here is the number of crimes per 100,000 in case you have MSM syndrome and can't analyze the data:

I have a better solution. Let me send your address to the next illegal immigrant family that passes into the US. You can house and get them up and running into our society on your own. Once they pass the US citizen test (in English of course) they become Americans. We appreciate your compassion and that will save us a lot of money. You are a true American, thanks.

Look. We all get you don’t like him, but there was nothing in his speech to not like. It reached across the aisle several times, reached to minority groups and laid out places where both parties could work together. It certainly was not the speech of a bigot and racist. If he meant what he said, the pressure is not on the Dems. If Pelosi and company meet him halfway, he will get re-elected for his accomplishments. If they don’t meet him halfway, it’s going to be readily apparent that they are more interested in their party than helping the country, and he will get re-elected as well. Kind of checkmate on this unless the company tanks between now and 2020. The poll on CBS no less after the speech said 75% of Americans support border funding as presented last night. He spoke of unity and Abrams pushed the same tired Dem talking points as always. She was in a tough spot, but didn’t do much to help the cause.

None dispute that crime went down after the boarder wall and one brings to light a fact that wasn't discussed. Boarder apprehensions of illegal immigrants went down dramatically after the wall...

From 1981 to 2008 average ~150,000/year illegal apprehensions. Post wall average ~25,000, so illegal apprehensions down ~85% in the years before and after the wall.

El Paso sheriff and mayor both blast Trump's false narrative



El Paso leaders and law enforcement officials reacted with fury to Trump’s comments about the city’s border fence.

"It is sad to hear President Trump state falsehoods about El Paso, Texas, in an attempt to justify the building of a 2,000-mile wall,” El Paso Sheriff Richard Wiles said after Trump’s speech Tuesday night. “El Paso was a safe city long before a wall was built. President Trump continues to give a false narrative."

El Paso Mayor Dee Margo, a Republican, reacted similarly and posted on Twitter that the city had never been one of the United States’ most dangerous.

“El Paso was never one of the most dangerous cities in the US. We‘ve had a fence for 10 years and it has impacted illegal immigration and curbed criminal activity. It is not the sole deterrent. Most of the 118 National Guard troops deployed in the state will be withdrawn, Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, said in a statement late Tuesday. She called Trump’s frequent declarations of an immigration crisis at the border a “charade.”

The troops had been deployed by her Republican predecessor, Susana Martinez, last year at the request of Trump, also a Republican. A small, though unspecified, number of troops will remain in place to help with the “humanitarian needs” of communities near the border and vulnerable migrants arriving at the border, Lujan Grisham said.
