    What. The. Phuk.

The Trump Administration may lift sanctions on a major Russian company founded by one of Vladimir Putin’s top allies.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnunchin told reporters during G-20 meeting of Finance Ministers last week, that the department may remove sanctions on Rusal, an international aluminum company that controls an estimated 6 percent of the global market that has long been controlled by Oleg Deripaska. Deripaska is a Putin confidant who has been implicated in suspected coordination between Moscow and Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, but he has repeatedly denied involvement. As Reuters reported, the department is mulling the move in the wake of a sharp increase in aluminum prices that followed Trump‘s imposition of a 10 percent tariff on aluminum imports.

“The objective was to impact the oligarchs, not to impact the hardworking people of Rusal as a result of the sanctions,” Mnunchin told CNN, which reported the comments on Friday.

The New York Times reports that Trump’s State Department is negotiating directly with the Taliban, with no involvement by Afghanistan’s government. Negotiations with the group, which is waging a civil war against the government that the United States has supported since the fall of the regime, reportedly took place in Qatar last week.

At the same time, Trump has the American military surrendering large parts of the country to the Islamic extremists who led a campaign of terror against the Afghan people and cooperated with Al Qaeda in the 9/11 attacks.

“The Trump administration is pushing Afghan commanders to surrender rural and sparsely populated areas of the country and focus on protecting cities,” the Times reports. [Trump’s surrender strategy] will effectively ensure that the Taliban and other insurgent groups will hold on to territory that they have already seized, leaving the government in Kabul to safeguard the capital and cities such as Kandahar, Kunduz, Mazar-i-Sharif and Jalalabad.”

Trump’s surrender in the country comes as an acknowledgement that he cannot lead the American military to victory over the terrorists responsible for the most traumatic attack ever launched against the U.S. government on American soil.

Trump had previously claimed to have a strategy to defeat the group, saying that the Taliban “need[s] to know they have nowhere to hide, that no place is beyond the reach of American might and American arms.”

Current figures say that 2,372 members of the U.S. military have died in the attempt to liberate Afghanistan from the Taliban following the 9/11 attacks.

In addition the US held talks with the Taliban without Afghan officials, which is not how it is normally done. U.S. Diplomats Held Face-to-Face Talks With Taliban, Insurgents Say https://nyti.ms/2NTh2gJ

Not the poster but Putin is playing the long game. And he had achieved many things. He has sowed chaos in our democracy and in other western democracies. HRC is not president (he feared and hated her) and got lucky that Trump is in office. Putin is making the US look the fool. All of that plays well back home, helping to insure he stays in power.

Controlling the narrative, or trying to...

Had a very good and interesting meeting at the White House with A.G. Sulzberger, Publisher of the New York Times. Spent much time talking about the vast amounts of Fake News being put out by the media & how that Fake News has morphed into phrase, “Enemy of the People.” Sad!

I would be willing to “shut down” government if the Democrats do not give us the votes for Border Security, which includes the Wall! Must get rid of Lottery, Catch & Release etc. and finally go to system of Immigration based on MERIT! We need great people coming into our Country!

I'm not convinced of collusion but definitely the Russians meddled. I'm not even sure they thought they'd pull off the win. But they did and clearly they have dirt on Trump and he knows it. The other thing in their favor was how close the results were. Normal dictator move is to win with 90% of the vote with no other real candidates. Our close vote has resulted in endless debates over who really won. Like someone said above it creates questions about our democratic process.

That should go over well right before the midterms - remind everyone what a wasteland DC is.
