ow chose NT over LK stupid decision. now ow has the next LK and they are doing everything for her dad to hold on to her. seen this before she's no LK and LK knows how to play the game and her position, this one just runs around a

This is a completely false statement. There are players from all leagues playing at all levels. Until such time one single league can cater to 100% of the quality players, there will ALWAYS be other paths. Are they more difficult? Sure. But, no college is going to completely ignore a player just because of their patch. That's the type of falsehood that makes ECNL fanboyz look bad.

Of course there are other paths, but just based on numbers ECNL is clearly the league with the biggest pipeline. I don't think anyone would say you can't take a different path, it's just much harder (as you say) which should be a consideration for anyone whose kid wants to go to the next level.

I agree, but that's not what was stated and hence, my reply.

You have to remember, CT has a model that doesn't exist everywhere. Just in New England, there are dozens (if not hundreds) of players of equal quality that can't reasonably get to an ECNL site. When you consider the less-populated parts of the country, many families do what they can and where they can. For many, there is no consideration to take - they only have one realistic option, and ECNL isn't it. Coaches know that. It's exactly what they told my daughter in college now, and my 2nd daughter in the recruiting stage currently.

I coach a mid level girls travel team. We just got invited to sign up for the OPI. This is an honest question will we get killed. It’s an 08 team and the 07 travel team also was asked. This would be a great experience for our kids but I don’t want to get killed all weekend

As a Oakwood parent you will be fine at that age group. Both the 07/08 teams have a few good players but most are travel level players that parents spend $3000 on to say they play at Oakwood. As an insider Oakwood is a complete mess on the girls side and would be a slap in the face if a travel team beat them. Heck its a slap in the face having to invite travel teams to compete. It shows how far Oakwood has fallen. They should change the name to OPTI. This is going to be such a fun weekend as we have to volunteer our time cant wait for travel moms and dads to gloat how they beat Oakwood going to take some JD in the Yeti

You won't get killed, and even if you lose every game (but by a respectable margin) there's a lot to learn in playing better teams.

Maybe, but will tell you that if oakwood can beat you 27 zip they will. I have seen crappy travel rec teams in opi get blown up by 20 goals. And our stupid parents cheer like they are playing. Disgusting stuff. Last year for us thankfully. Kid moves on to college.

Doesn't help that OW forces their teams to play that weekend when they should be doing other more appropriate events. OPI used to a be a decent event but now the better teams all play elsewhere, so it's OW and whoever else than can talk into coming.

The travel coach who asked should see if he can find teams and scores from the last time they held it - which amazingly is 2019. what a year.

Tournament champions are sometimes decided by goal differential which is understandable why scores would get run up. Don’t hate the club, hate the rules
