Girls youth soccer is now a mess since they got involved there too ..... Nice job with the calendar year birthdates screwing 8th and 12 grade teams again. If US Soccer was having a large national conference today at their HQ and it exploded, men and women would both be better off tomorrow.

CFC ECNL is light years ahead of OW and FSA at U14, U15 and U17 and it appears U16 as well. CFC getting stronger at the young ages.

Have you been watching the women's game at all the last several years? We've been #1 because we had the college Title 9 advantage for years. That is shrinking FAST. Other nations have invested heavily in the women's game (both at the youth and professional level) and are catching up quickly. Several of our NT players play abroad professionally, not here. That is partly why USSF finally stepped into the girls side* but they blew it, badly. After 11 or 12 years with BDA they didn't take any lessons learned and try to adjust it for a very different girls landscape.

* it also was a reaction to the WNT lawsuit so they could say "We're investing in the women's game"

ECNL has been the national top league for girls .... No USSF involvement .... On boys side, DA in effect for 12 years run by USSF .... Ruined

Oakwood is still offering a very robust 10 month program for the girls who prefer not to play HS. They made a very good move with this change.

They made the change kicking and screaming. It was not by choice. Should be interesting to see see how their players fare on JV next year compared to players from other clubs on varsity teams.

Unfortunately GAL is trying to differentiate themselves but doing it in the wrong way. Just copy the ECNL model and move on. They are literally shouting themselves in the foot right now.

Oakwood kids can drive south to NYSC and play on the #2 team in the Northeast and the #50 team nationally according to Soccerwire!
