No reason for them to go belly up unless they had taken out a loan or had zero cash on hand to weather Covid. If they're selling it's more likely driven by either uncertainty on where they fit in the landscape moving forward, or maybe just wanting to retire.

What does buying OW give them? To get into MLS ok maybe but they'll always be a B club in that league. GAL gets them nothing. Two facilities in poor condition.

If this is true (which I doubt) it would make a lot of sense for FSA and good for CT soccer.

          1) From a financial perspective FSA would expand their market beyond the CT river. It would increase the share of youth soccer by about 30%. The OW indoor facility would be divested. FSA doesn't needed and its currently under utilized.
          2) From a talent perspective it would combine top talent which would provide a significant improvement from the current issue of splitting talent in a small geographic area, The boys combining would produce a serious MLS youth team and girls side would provide a significant improvement which would combine talent on par with CFC's branch model.
          3) From a coaching perspective the combination would be impressive if done correctly.

One key to making this work is Sal would have to relinquish control of the club. He should run the business but not be involved in soccer decisions. He doesn't have a soccer mind. The Club should retain the Oakwood brand and the facility can remain FSA.

                Oakwood

There is almost nothing to sell. What would fsa be buying? Players are not on long term contracts. They all could move to fsa now if they wanted or leave if a purchase happened

Fsa already has access to Ecnl. What would oakwood bring them?

Unless they bought it for peanuts and a few old soccer balls.

FSA would be buying the absence of a competitor in the marketplace and aggregating players into larger teams with potentially more talent (but in reality, not). Plus, FSA would be getting the veinless hot dogs and some worthless daddy coaches.

on the girls side it wouldn't do anything other than some market share. on the boys side it's access to the highest league, but as someone said it's the b teams

But CFC would be sitting pretty with their circle jerk daddies getting off on each other in the dark.

better place to hide circle time instead of a dark park.

Do not forget in the price of the sale is OAKWOOD pond located in the back right corner of the parking lot. It takes up about 30 parking spots. LOL that parking area is so bad half of its washed out the other half is a pond. The new owners will also get two uncleaned PORTO bathrooms that have not been cleaned or dumped since the start of COVID. They are beyond hurting for money can not even empty a PORTO. But the bright side the 07 team did not lose but did not win. 0-7-1.

Are they really going to sell? Who realistically will buy?

does anybody really know Rick or Dave? if you did, you would know the last thing they would do is sell Oakwood. This is their life, its has been for 50 years! If anything, they might accept a merger. But the question is with who? the hard sell of a merger is Dave and Rick will NEVER give up majority control of the business or soccer.

Oakwood will never sell that's a fact.
