The 10-month rule has gotta go. That would go a long way in shoring up the league.

There will still be a huge difference between the 2 leagues. The teams that play in it. Also girls love playing high school no matter how bad it is. The social aspect is what it’s about.

If you are that kind of player....you are not playing on any team for the social aspect.

If there were that many of "that kind of player " GDA and GAL wouldn't have struggled. Having some fully dedicated players and the rest players whose HS teams suck isn't exactly a solid foundation.

And by THAT kind of player, do you mean a kid that cant make varsity until junior year?

What they mean is their mentality not necessarily their skill level. We are not talking about the "best" player. Its their mentality to want to get better. Their desire and commitment.

Bullshyte. All players want to improve. Many just don't think you need to sacrafice HS experiences for the marginal improvement you get in two months of extra club. And look at this year - they're barely playing, plus OW didn't even follow DA rules of 4x/week most of the time. And no matter what, if your "extra" training isn't quality training it doesn't do much for you either

the better players are definitely not playing HS soccer to be with their friends. They are playing to play despite their friends. I agree with the mentality statement.

This is a misconception. Not all girls love high school soccer. At some high schools it's too much about the social and not enough about the soccer. Some players who are serious see it as a waste of time. And by the way you can be serious about soccer and not have made varsity as a freshman. Making varsity freshman year is not the be all end all standard to determine who should be serious about soccer and who should give up on the sport.

And to add to this my d played in the gda expecting to find other players with the same mentality and was definitely disappointed.

many just don't want to play DA and are simply stuck having to play HS soccer. Im sure many would much rather play with their club team. Only a few want to play HS soccer because their HS is competitive. But many others don't really have a choice. Its certainly not made because of their friends. I wouldn't want a teammate out on the field who is simply there to be with their friends.
