Some states like PA, allow the kids to train one day a week (typically Sunday). They don't play games. The New England states might allow for it but they don't do it and there really aren't organized leagues during the fall.

Also in other parts of the country, high school soccer is largely a spring sport. The western half of the country all plays high school in the spring. So if you are on an ECNL team, all games are in the fall. The teams don't play club soccer during their fall high school seasons out there but are allowed to attend a winter showcase.

I'm not aware of anywhere that his the kids playing simultaneously. Maybe the parent of the 12 years old that post here think that's a good idea but it's flat out stupid. The kids have huge workloads, jobs, etc. No one is playing on two soccer teams.

The origin of the rules the in CT were actually put in place to protect the players.

For profit club soccer is really only less than 20 years old in CT. Most kids played travel teams and then district teams like SCP were formed. When for profit soccer entered the picture, it prompted a review of the rules. A greedy club owner doesn't mind your kid playing soccer 7 days a week.

The year round club soccer probably met it's demise when the Academy folded. Can't a imagine a new wave of suckers paying for this GAL next year.

Because it's hard to structure a regional league with some teams who cannot participate.

But, not impossible, since there will be leagues playing this fall with HS-aged teams.

An "exception to a rule" is by definite, not a rule. The vast majority of states take time off during HS soccer season - fall, winter and spring. There may be some training or an occasional game, but not a full on "schedule."

The rule is a good one - as someone said clubs don't care about your kids burning out or not getting homework done, and both coaches would pressure players to make their teams the priority.

A big reason GDA failed is girls wanted to play HS soccer - so much so that many stayed in ECNL because it allowed them to do both at different times. So much so that some blatantly broke the rules during the season.

Boys academy was created in order to help identify the top players...those players would become part of the national pool thus making our mens team better. That was the plan. A good idea but poorly implemented. The girls on the other hand NEVER needed an academy as we already were the best team in the world.

Come on man wait till they get into league play and stop playing Low level EDP teams. What the 06 have 13 kids 07 is a mess always has been and the 08 team has kids on there that would not make a travel team but keep drinking the kool-aid
