PS The UConn hoops was just an example. Aside from timed events (Track, swimming) playing time is at the discretion of the coach. I've seen slender college freshman that don't play pack on 20 pounds of muscle in a year and then never come off the field as a sophomore. There's really not a way to answer your question.

You aren't going to get a concise answer on here but you can come to your own conclusions by simply looking at historical data for schools that your kid in interested in.
