Pythons are a joke of a club. Bottom feeders in the CCSL and yet they’re sending players to play at the US academy level? Shows how desperate BS is and how far the relationship between Omar and Mickey goes at the expense of what’s right for developing kids.

The ridiculous think is that BS (and other top clubs) can evaluate 10 and 11-year-olds and determine who has a soccer future and belongs in DA. Of course, you can take a group of 60 little kids and force rank them from #1 to #60 after a couple of "tryouts" or watching them play on their current teams. However, to say that BS has some magic knowledge that tells them that #1 kid will continue to get better or the #60 kid is as good as he will ever be is insane. With the exception of a once-in-a-lifetime talent like Messi, NOBODY can accurately gauge the future ability of a 10 year old. How many future stars lose their love for soccer and give up because at age 10 someone told them they weren't good enough to make the academy at a mediocre DA club in CT?
I generally think the Academy system is not a bad idea, but to start it at u12, u13, or even u14 is a disservice to all the kids.
It's just pointless to argue if BS made the right choices with the offers or if some weak kids got offers while some strong players did not. I would be willing to bet that if you pick a random group of 15 boys out of the sample and compared them in five years to the "top 15" that BS picked, you would not find much difference. In fact, a random 15 with great coaching is most likely to be stronger than the BS 15 with BS coaching.
The issue with BS is not whether they made the right offers to the right kids. The issue with BS is that the club itself is a mess with bad coaching, bad culture, bad management, bad leadership, and in some cases bad parents.

Speaking from personal experience. My brother and I played DI and DIII soccer. We both were bench players on so-so town teams for most of our youth. In my brother's case, he had a growth spurt around age 13/14 that transformed him and 'woke up" his game. In my case, we moved towns and I joined a new team. Had an amazing coach who moved me from defense to midfield and worked on my technical skills. By the time I was a sophomore in HS, I was starting on varsity and walked onto a top DIII team a few years later.
Many of the kids who were starting when my brother and I were on the bench as kids either quit soccer by age 14 or were riding the bench in HS. One of the best players in our state who played at a rival high school and eventually got a full ride to UVA (back when UVA was good) was a keeper till age 12. He became a field player and rode the bench till junior year when he led our state in scoring.
