The issue was never the kids. There are definitely some kids who have potential on that team. Even the weaker players on the team would be strong players elsewhere or can develop into good players with better coaching.

BS spends all it's time teaching the Mickey style of play when uLittles should be spending time working on technique, skills, ball mastery, and working on dribbling, passing, and defending.

Nice 1-2 passes are pretty to watch and impress some parents but do nothing for the player. It's easy for a coach to just tell kids to do rondo or keep away for 2 hours than actually TEACH and focus on individual players.

BS = club over team, team over player.

        Win-loss results driven environment.

Zero individual development. Zero technical development.

You and your kid are just a number. Take a ticket, wait your turn.

          My guess

          2007 loses 5
2006 loses 7 (from 24 players down to 18 format)
          2005 loses 4
          2004 loses 3
          2003 loses 4
          2002 loses 3

For a total replacement of 26 in Academy for those ages.

Next year that number may double.... because BS is BS, and they've been FOUND OUT as such. ladies and gentlemen, lets welcome the next 'B' club into the region.

But MK lives by PT Barnum's motto - there's a sucker born every minute. There will always be parents who buy into it, even if just for a few years before reality hits them upside the head like a frying pan. Filled rosters=filled bank account.

Yes, you are very likely right. There will always be Fairfield CT fish to fry, but that will not lend itself to 'productive' and 'competitive' teams.

Hence the evolution of the next 'B' club with an 'A' club price tag.

CFC = owners over club, club over team, team over player and everything over the branches

FSA = owners over club, facility over teams, team over player

They all look the same to me.

They all have fundamental flaws, some worse than others. Pick your poison.

The problem for MK is that if quality continues to deteriorate or stays status quo even, they are in real jeopardy of losing BDA status. Then what? The girls side is in shambles and the boys quality is a shadow of its former self. His ego and stubbornness may be his clubs undoing.

BS teams aren't doing well but they haven't been basement dwellers. Right now USSF is too busy trying to keep GDA afloat. Next season BS will come under closer scrutiny and the lack of a facility is an issue that isn't going away before then. If they lose some good players and don't fill with similar quality ones then the slide will continue. It's highly unlikely they'll be able to recruit better players.

                        Beachside DA status

Its true that Beachside is sliding, and its also true that the USSF doesn't like what they see. But Beachside is an early DA participant, they won't abandon them quickly, it will take YEARS of decline for that to even be discussed.

The issue is not Beachside DA status, its the club ability to compete, and fund itself. Prices of field rentals are going up, coaches want more money for being treated badly (or they leave) and parents are unwilling to 'donate' to the same tune because of soured history.

Once the large exodus that another poster suggested was coming actually happens, its a death spiral of all accounts. New parents will be like 'why did so many leave'? And the rope they would have given the club a few years ago will be much shorter. And the exodus will continue.

Beachside is still a 'NAME' and that takes time to build, and time to erode. The erosion is in its infancy, but the ROPE is getting shorter each year, and eventually that rope becomes to small for the club to manage its members.... and then its over. That is a few years away, but only a few years.

                          BS current DA standings:
                          U15 - 8th of 11
                          U16/17 - 7th of 10
                          U18/19 - 9th of 10

How is this expected to get better? I can only see this getting worse as the best players in the area clearly migrate elsewhere. The club is in trouble, plain and simple. How many academy clubs don’t have their own facilities? I have to imagine it’s a very small percentage. There is no way BS will ever build their own either, MK will not put up his own capital, too risky...and his once loyal clientele is no longer loyal and no longer willing to write donation checks to fund his pipe dreams. The bell is tolling!

Being in the bottom third doesn't get you booted from DA but will bring you closer scrutiny. Bigger immediate issue is talent flight. Top players will go to better clubs. Those left are questioning the value of doing DA vs playing at a strong non DA option + HS sports. Doesn't help that BS costs a fortune too. Top off the sh** sandwich with Mk attitude and coaching troubles. As unpleasant as this year has been, next year's is shaping up to be worse.

                              Beachside Parent

I'm a parent of a younger age Beachside DA player. I'm hearing an enormous amount of chatter from parents of a lot of kids leaving. Do I stay? How did those kids get out, and why do they have preference?

                              How does this work?

How is it that we're left on a depleted team.

                              Why should I stay?
                              Why should I go?

I'm seriously asking for some help, and maybe this is not the forum, but I'm a little desperate.
