And for small, non-MLS DA clubs like OW, the introduction of GDA will force them to charge more on both sides just to stay afloat. Watch what the cost of OW goes to this year for boys and girls in HS. It's fanning the fire.

You're feet are not on the ground. Residency? For teenage girls? They should just forget about College Prep and their future careers ? Forget about their other child development ?

I respectfully disagree with the first part of your answer. 10 years ago MLS was half the size it is today and most did not operate a fully funded academy. Furthermore, NASL teams like the Cosmos and FC North Carolina are also in the DA league and are providing our youth some quality training. Also look at the growth of the USL and what that could become.

The point I do agree with is the growing divide - BS and OW will continue to struggle to keep up with the pro-sponsored programs Let's face it - if your kid is an excellent prospect he will end up in a pro-sponsored academy either in the USA or abroad. OW and BS will become primarily a fee-based development program for college bound athletes.

          Your response smacks of sexism.

Sounds like Prep School with a soccer focus. What's the problem?

If Beachside gets the field project done, which it looks that way, then the Girls program will restart and succeed.

Comparing it to CFC or Oak will take years but still be a strong tier club biting at the heels.

take a breather ladies and Gents, a club with its own Fields organized as well as Beachside with the DA badge, i see many clubs extremely concerned in the fairfield county area.

Without GDA badge or ECNL, BS offers no path to competitive league for top girls. This has been discussed already. You feel the girls program will succeed....how exactly do you measure success?

DA badge is good for boys program....for girls it means nada!
Your thinking perpetuates the "BS is a boys only program" stereotype.

Two fields are projected for Monroe facility. Dos... Two ... 2 ... that's it

If you think TWO fields be THE catalyst for the girls program you are smoking something strong

Fields won't resurrect their girls program nor will ot get them GDA any time soon. They'll need more of a track record amd they don't have ray right now. Above post is right - without a better badge they lose top players by U14 and teams wither. Npl will soon be a distant #3 league.

Write-ups in the local paper are a joke. If there's any coverage it's minimal, unless you're Gbury on a long win streak. Otherwise it's just a box score in the Courant. 99% of the kids won't even get mentioned unless they happen to score a goal. Is there value to playing HS? Absolutely. The social aspect for an underclassmen playing up on Varsity is usually a big deal for that kid. Social acceptance into a bigger group at school can go a long way. But this isn't Friday Night Lights where hundreds of kids are fans at these games and banners are waving. Even Gbury doesn't get that.
You just described college soccer also.

BS is a boys only program. That's just a fact. Ask the girls and their families there today. Ask the girls and their families from 3, 4, 5 years ago. Same thing. Girls are an MK afterthought, if that.

MK uses the BS girls program like an ATM.

Do any players from the BS girls teams get recruited for college soccer? The two older teams play in the EDP league and go to FL/Disney and Jeff Cup. Don't see them on PDA list of teams however....
