Can someone confirm that Mark Alves was a Beachside Academy coach this past year.

He apparently has his 'D' lic, trying to get his 'C' lic (at least that is what it says on the Beachside Web page).

If this is true, and I doubt it is, but if it is, then that means that a Beachside Academy coach is a 'D' lic professional?

Really? Licensure is holding you up? First of all, licensure is no assurance of a coach being any good. It means he took a class. Can he connect with kids, motivate them, teach them the fundamentals? Second, there are plenty DA coaches do not meet the licensure requirements and USSF looks the other way. Not the majority of course, but it isn't uncommon

Now, if you're hesitating about joining because you think they're lying scum, well then you have a case.

Its funny what nonsense is put on TS, and what information you get. So Beachside has had a D license coach on their 2006 Academy team this past year.

And people are wondering what is going wrong at that club?

Its just sad, super sad, that all those 2006 boys paid thousands of dollars for a D level coach.

When you phrase it like that, the only thing that makes it OK is if the players/families knew what they were getting BEFORE they bought the product.

You wanna laugh, both Shane and Mark were both 2006 DA coaches. And word is 8 of the players on that team have left the club.

In fairness to BS - and believe me I'm not a fan - they're not the only ones skirting the licensure rules. But I doubt the other clubs are charging as much either.

Joke is on the players and families

The real joke here is on the boys and their parents. MK and company has pulled the wool so far over your eyes you can't see your tomorrow any better than you can see your today.

Did you know you were getting two 'D' level coaches? Hey this is USSDA, coaching standards need to be MET, I mean at least be a 'B' coach.

I understand the 'a good coach just needs the skills, not the lic' ..... do you feel the same way when you go to a doctor? How about your lawyer? What about your accountant?

You don't just EARN those lic over a weekend class (actually E & D you do). the others involve proper course instruction, lesson plans, tactical thought, and take many months to get. You dedicate yourself to it and hone your craft.

Saying that its OK for a USSDA player to be coached by two D lic coaches is just silly, and its wrong, and its not what people pay for.

There is no justification, there is no argument, and there is no excuse.

Man... I go back and forth from feeling BAD for Beachside, and being even more angry with this discontent for those boys who just want to learn the game for their parents $3,750
