Sounds right. Blackrock is a whole other level vs BS.

What makes Blackrock special is that they consolidate the best prep school talent on one team. That being said Blackrock has added more kids than they ever have. Some of the Blackrock talent isn't so special.

Like at all clubs they'll take a few bench warmers to help pay for the studs who play for free. BS is doing that as well. But being a bench warmer at Blackrock is way beer than the same at BS.

Blackrock has taken more than a few. They have enough players for a second team at the two older ages. Look how poorly they did at NPL National Cup last year after all their studs skipped the event to go back home.

Those studs didn't need to go for exposure, and who would pay for their travel anyway? I think it would be tough to get graduated seniors to go to an event like that to begin with.

Agreed but that wasn't the point. The studs went home for the summer were also underclass men but who could blame them after being away for awhile

The point was that the other players performed poorly as they were nothing special.

How do you define “performed poorly”? Do you even know their results?

Several years ago BS had a tournament/showcase team that was made up of multiple prep schools and not just SKS. But that was two or three years ago. That's probably what you are referring to but that's old news.
They used the names of those kids to populate their commits list.

Didn't make out of their NPL group. They were 1-1-1 against NPL comp, aka non DAP teams.

To be more accurate, a group that was thrown together and put in the U19, because it was a prep-school break period, and many players not available. Playing against teams that had all won either their state cup or NPL regional semifinals, who had probably been playing together for years. For whatever it's worth, BR was in NPL for one year (one and done) and won both U18 and 19 brackets, and CT NPL state cups.

They had beaten DAP teams in friendlies and showcases.

                          Hardly a defining statistic...

You missed the point. The NPL results were to illustrate they have grown too big and moved away from their initial mission of providing meaningful games and exposure for prep stars.

They never should have played in the CT US club Cup. For starter the club isn't based in CT. And secondly they knew they couldn't send an A team to IN. As it was they didn't send the younger team

The team that was sent to IN wasn't thrown together but rather backups, who were on the teams. Those backups who paid big money to belong to BR were not the same quality as the starters.

It may sound like I'm arguing with you, but I'm not. Has it gotten too big? Uh, yeah. This year more than even last year.

Playing CT cup was weird, I guess, but playing Mass would have just been playing the same teams they played in NEP NPL season. While nominally based in Mass, the bulk of the (non Berkshire) players are all in CT, and most practices are at CT schools.

I presume you know what went down, but they aligned with GPS last year to be able to get into a league to play in. At the end of the season, when they announced a future that didn't include GPS in it, the GPS guys had BR banned from the national finals. They 'appealed' and were able to bring one team. There was one U18 and one U19 team playing in the league. With something like this, there will be people who are either away during break, or cannot afford, or have no need to travel to Indy (already committed). So to make a combined team , your gonna have to enter into the oldest group U-19. Obviously, the ones who went were not all 19, or maybe even the "starters" as you call them.

Frankly, I was glad they didn't win the regionals, so they only had to go one weekend, not two! Mostly just in it for the experience, as the college futeure was already locked up.

Black Rock has gotten bigger, but they have levels of teams now. In the past they had u18 and u19 team of superstars.l and that was it. They still have those, as well as now a u17 elite team. Then they have teams at those ages one level down. Then they have kids not doing any showcasing. So yes they have expanded, but those very top teams will still be formidable. Black Rock is playing friendlies next weekend at Philadelphia Union.
