When a charity solicits donations for a specific purpose and accepts those donations, it is legally bound to use the donation for that specific purpose. Otherwise, it is required to return the donation unless the donor confirms in writing that the charity is allowed to keep the donation and use it for (name the purpose).

First off, I’m very sad that a site like this is so full of anger and wreckless parent chatter. I truly hope the kids never learn of it.

At the same time I feel compelled to inform the facts, and clear up any misunderstandings regarding Beachside and the apparent ongoing investigations.

      So here are the facts.

I’m a mother of a wonderful son, who is a good DA soccer player, and have been at Beachside for the last several years. My son loves his team mates, likes his coach (not so much last year or the year before). The club has been asking for donations to build a team facility since the day we arrived, at times with some undo pressure. As a family with some resources, we have donated. We have donated 5 figures more than once, and we’ve been kept abreast of the development of the facility (so we thought) each year. It recently unraveled and apparently was never really close. This entire situation IS being investigated, and a lawsuit will be filed shortly by a consortium of parents.

We’ve come to realize that Beachside is a culture of misrepresentation and iron curtain politics that we are fully disgusted with, with specific reference to the lack of leadership at one of the more storied DA clubs in our area. It’s not our job or role to assign blame as to who created or facilitated this fraud, that will be up to the process that has begun that we are cooperating with.

We want our money back, EVERYONE does. None of our boys will be in the club to benefit from a home facility, yet we are funding it? The whole thing smells, and the expression that if it looks like xxx, smells like xxx, it’s probably xxx.

So yes we were approached by an investigator, we are cooperating by showing cleared checks, sharing fund raising emails, and fundraising efforts all in the name of the new facility. What they do with that is up to them. We don’t actually think we’ll ever see a penny back, but if we do, it’s right...if we don’t....it’s wrong.

Coaches have been leaving year after year (more rapidly of late)....all will be approached and questioned for what they know/don’t know about the funds, the failed facility, and the ability of the Club to return those funds.

Just to put this into perspective....

Meanwhile, a DA club like New York Soccer Club is currently building a team facility in Westchester NY at Manhattanville College. We know that because we can see their permits online, and we’ve driven by the college and they’re building it NOW! What I mean by that is it’s actually being built right now, there plans, construction machines, ground is broken. How can a club that began in 1994 be so far behind a club that began in 2009! The answer for that is always the same, leadership and mismanagement. Apparently the New York Soccer Club is under new management ... kudos to them for accomplishing in 9 years what Beachside was unable to accomplish in 25 years! Mismanagement at its worst at Beachside.

Beachside has an inferiority complex that they think that everyone is out to get them...and they may be right. What we know is that there is a reason for that, and it’s no longer because Beachside is the best, it’s because their leadership are bad leaders; their coaches leave unhappy, their families leave because of lack of trust....other clubs hate them, officials speak badly of them....towns speak badly....why? Why is it always Beachside that everyone hates?

What was once a storied DA club has turned into a mess....because of their leadership, it’s a real shame and I know the USSF is looking at this seriously.

There are no winners here. The USSF losses a good DA Club, local families lose a viable club for their kids to participate in and for parents to trust....and we have to explain to my son why he’s leaving Beachside at the end of this season...and show him the club’s dirty laundry as an explanation.

We’re terrible disappointed in Beachside leadership, and terribly sad to have our son suffer from their mismanagement, and frustrated how badly we were lied to and manipulated into donating to a facility that likely never was going to be built.

None of the above is speculation, it’s all fact and I will never again look at this site but felt obligated to separate fact from fiction.

      Good luck to you all!
Sounds straight up to me...BSC has had many questions lingering over the years about money the big contributions as to who and where its going too... frankly as a parent you kinda assume but no one really comes out and say what they really believe. I guess the club keeps the soccer part so congested most find no time to make it an issue as MK and the gang keep the 'Winning " word 24/7 in our heads , kinda like this new Commander in Chief.

Con Artists come in many Flavors and if this is a con , then its a new flavor--the Berni Madoff of soccer.

Doesn't seem like the teams are doing much "winning" lately either.

The email sounds like they're still trying to find a site. If they don't soon and tell people what's going on they will have to give it all back. Good luck getting people to give a 2nd time around.

Worse, I bet some of those players that joined are paying good money and won't get out of it what they hope they will (training and recruiting). It's too late for seniors (I agree why would you at this point?), even top juniors are well into the process. I wonder if BS gave them a deal. More $ in the coffers is a good thing.
It's not too late for juniors. Boys recruiting for most players go into senior year. I believe three of the five are high school juniors.

Look at AD who joined BS as a senior from high school and made an impact as a UCONN freshman

The merger rumors are probably adding fuel to the fire.
                  Again, they are just rumors.

The purported merger was called off right around reports of authorities at BS practices... timing seems to fit.

Could have been coincidental timing. The merger didn't make much sense for NYSC and was a desperation play for BS

Could be ... but IF I was @ NYSC I wouldn't do a merger with an ongoing investigation

Why put your organization in the cross hairs

Oh for sure. I'm just not sure they would have known about it - I doubt BS would have told them, but maybe someone tipped them off.

                              Beachside’s 2015 Form 990 shows an approximate 60% increase in “public support”as compared to 2014 - up from $700,000 in 2014 to $1,100,000 in 2015.

However, it doesn’t seem correct that the IRS came to a Beachside practice. The IRS has all of the info it needs regarding Beachside’s donors and thus can reach out to these insdividuals directly and discreetly. It seems more likely that the “investigator” was someone hired by the consortium of parents, as the parents don’t know how much other parents gave and therefore would need means to find these donors and the amounts donated..
