A strong DA player wont get anything outta HS, its those Mediocre DA players who want the showboating, razzle dazzle, score goals..and try to get that Ronaldo glory in front of a crowd, something they wont get at a DA game. That's why BSC needs to stay hard and loyal to its DA badge, those kids will pull the club down. Stick with the law and order for a year and it'll be like night and day the following season.

I don't think BS has made it a habit of adding HS players post HS season. this is the first year I can recall them doing it other than prep school kids. Problem is, does BS take a better kid from HS, or a weaker one that is willing to give up HS (probably because they know they won't play much in HS?). There isn't that much talent to go around, some good players have HS as a non starter and won't do DA, and the size of school age kids is shrinking (smaller player pie to take a slice from). BS might have fewer options moving forward, OW too.

If they have to start doing more scholarships or deep discounts that will strain their finances even more. They'll have a mortgage, insurance, utilities etc - all expenses they didn't have when they just rented fields. Some of the Darien crowd won't hike up to Monroe. That's BS's bread and butter.

BS has some immigrant kids already, but it's the kids from the affluent families that pay the bills. Lots of white kids from Westport, NC, etc.

This is more complicated than the Greek thought, and Fairfield county is not the best place for a DA program to compete in.
The FCIAC schools is very much a problem for BSC, the individual player is small fish in the ocean to this problem.
I have to be honest i thought that HS soccer in CT was all the same but Fairfield county HS soccer is on another level with action, much drama and bragging rights, I dont see the DA ever being a threat.

It's also a very expensive place to run a DA program (fields, coaches). Add in that BS is a smaller club than it used to be without a healthy girls program, fewer teams overall and I hear juniors isn't a sell out like it once was. Good thing he has all those travel program contracts.

Not the poster - and I tend to agree with you. My kid plays so called high level club and is on a strong HS program (deep state runs). In HS he plays differently and often multiple positions. In club he's been pigeonholed in the same spot for quite some time. He has to react differently knowing the player next him can't do certain things a good club player can do. I think he's gotten quit a bit out of HS, on top of playing for the school with lifelong pals, team captain and all the other things that go with it. He didn't want DA - he had two offers he decided against on his own, his choice. Now that it will be over soon I'm very glad he made that choice. He's had a great time and will still be playing in college at a great school. If you absolutely want top D1 and have the skills for it then DA is a good place to play and get seen. But CT turns out very few of those players each year. Below that you have choices.
