You can look at the twitter feeds of various clubs and see congratulations tweets to various players who committed this fall. I think Sounders Academy is the only one that doesn't tweet it out.

A lot of recruitment is up to the player though. Players need to email their schedules to coaches, introduce themselves etc Some clubs help more than others, but the athlete needs to be proactive. You need film for every game. If club doesn't coordinate/provide video, parents should film and share with one another. Team manager should be handing out team flyers on the sidelines. Some clubs have a college recruiting coordinator to help with all teams, handing out flyers etc though whether these guys do more than a parent volunteer is unclear. Ideally, clubs should track what coaches attend games and let players know who was there to watch.

For boys, Sounders Academy grads have the most (nearly all) moving on to play college or pro.

For sure Sounders on the boys side. Probably PAC on the girls side.

Xfire on the girls side far and away. All of the boys on the Xfire Academy that want to play college play at some level. It's true the Sounders have recently signed players to contracts, but in general, most Academy players play college if they want to.

Looking at the college list for PacNW, I wouldn't be so proud about attending and playing at community colleges or low ranking local schools. Really, Highline CC? Don't you think it would have been better if the parents put money into tutors or an SAT prep instead of soccer? And PacNW is crowing about this accomplishment? At least XF have girls going to Ivy and some other top schools.

This really isn't a nice comment. You have no idea why anyone chooses the college they do. Maybe the kid really wants to keep playing and CC is where they can get a spot, knock out some credits, have fun playing and move on to 4 year school. Maybe they're on a budget and got nice scholarship $ at a less prestigious school. Maybe they had a family crisis that hit the GPA during high school and need to use CC to get the GPA up. Maybe the family put the money into soccer because their kid had a learning difference and the field was a place where they felt more successful than the classroom and going to CC is a great academic outcome. Looking down on where other kids go to college is adding to the pressure our young people feel. Don't do it.

Too many variables go into college choice especially financial consideration and academic fit. Add playing a college varsity sport to the equation and it further complicates school choice. The role of a club should be to help their players find the best fit considering all the variables. PacNW has a club culture that celebrates all their players choosing to play at the next level regardless of divisions. They treat their college bound players equally, respecting the hard work and commitment to get there.

Playing for certain clubs might help with exposure but at the end of the day the club you play for will not get you recruited. Only the players themselves can do that.

JUCO the smart move!

Looking at how much college is, why not do a JUCO for next to nothing (especially with a tuition waiver) then transfer to a more expensive school. Think about it going to a CC then transferring to a private school D2 is basically cutting your college cost in half vs just going to a private school for four years.

Then there is the paying time. Freshman something get into a big roster and are forgotten and don't the reps in training or games to really improve and then her comes the all league JUCO player, a college proven player.

JUCO is the smart move.

I seriously can’t believe you are saying this. When you are a first-generation American and none of your family has ever been to college, attending (gasp!) Highline College can be an absolute game changer and alter your life trajectory forever. Players who move on to play college soccer AT ANY LEVEL should be celebrated and honored.

On the girls side, Xfire has done consistently well with college placements. Last year’s Reign class was the first one that had been with the club throughout the recruiting process, and everyone ended up playing in college, with a good mix of pac 12, mid-major (wcc and big East), and strong d2 (western) schools, among others. The classes this year and next also have very solid commitments.

Pac NW and WPFC do a solid job. Will be interesting to see how Eastside and SU do once their ecnl programs ramp up.

You gotta love the rich elitist parents who can’t think outside their privileged world. Only the top private prep schools, private academic tutors, and private outside trainers for their future college D1 player. Everyone else is less than.

I'm an Oregon soccer parent who visits the Washington feed sometimes because Oregon TS parents are, for the most part, terrible people who hurl appalling insults at children and want to spend their time arguing about the superiority of GDA vs ECNL vs OYSA. The Washington feed has been a breath of fresh air because posters discuss actual soccer issues in a respectful manner. Except for this post. Shame on you. All the reasons you are wrong have already been covered by other posters, so I'll just say if you want to post things like this hop on over to the Oregon feed and you'll find your fellow troll people.

We are still a few years out from all the recent changes to see a true snapshot or pattern of how each club does. Start tracking the graduating hs class of 2023. Most those players are currently in 8th/9th and are part of the new ECNL expanded league and not part of the GDA and will likely play with most of their current teammates till they graduate. Too many (committed or recently committed) transfer players between clubs for certain clubs to take credit for.

Not a good investment if that is your strategy

The sorry truth is that even at “premier” level, all the extra money you spent isn’t going to result in your child play soccer in college, much less with a scholarship, especially on the boys side where scholarships are much less plentiful. For girls in RCL 1 maybe you have the best chance of seeing some return on investment. Even at Pac NW maroon, they are sending many players to Highline CC. Is that worthy of the financial investment of “premier” soccer?

For everyone else, if college scholarships were your goal, you wasted enough money to have bought little Johnny or Susie a car at graduation. Or pay their first year’s tuition after financial aid. Hopefully your child avoided injuries carried to adulthood.

Also college soccer, especially on male side, is a veritable injury mill. You might as well buy little Johnny a motorcycle or send him to Afghanistan, the risk is not much less than that.
