Perfect weather - 72 degrees, fields are in good shape, parking is easy, food and beer readiky available, and its a good opportunity to get games in just before the season.

One of the rare tournaments i have been to where the kids actually look like they are having fun.
saw a bunch of kids and families just hanging out and enjoying the sunshine and atmosphere. Weather was perfect.

Sometimes the weather is what makes it but also it looks like fun competition with well known teams.

I think its the proximity to the season starting... gives the coach some time with the kids to try new things, give kids some playing time before the grind of the season. I also like that its at starfire.

There are pros and cons. Parking is not free. Morning game was a headache to find a spot, bunch of parents were dropping off kids and then driving around for 20-30 minutes to find any free parking spot. That was on Saturday. Like Starfire facility provides food and the balcony at pizza place is our new favorite spot to watch the games. Not so many other vendors (or they are not consistent). Yesterday food truck left at 5 smth while last game was finished close to 7-8 pm. Highway renovation makes a nightmare to drive home. Any activities for the players and younger siblings between games? Soccer tennis, bean bag toss? Do they distribute small gifts for participants like pins or luggage tags this year? If funds are limited they can do trivia or smth and give gifts to the winners only. While many services are covered by Starfire, EFC could invest some time in planning/preparation and Human Resources into some Wow factor. They have the biggest headcount of support staff in the area, so make them work. I felt last year they did better.
But what really matters for players and their coaches: it’s experience of playing with the strong/stronger teams they do not play often or ever. That’s why I am vouching for stopping so called boycotts. While club management and some parents could feed their egos, the players are suffering.

Parking was $12 for 4 days? My guess is that goes to starfire, not efc.
two food trucks yesterday, plus concession stand with hot dogs, nackos, cup ramen, etc, watershed pizza, and the coffee shop both open.
forgot your shin guards? Soccer West was open. Plenty of clean restrooms. Grass fields were in better condition than I've seen in 15 years.
I didnt run into any parking issues, but I can imagine it could get crowded. I did have to go up I5 as 405N was closed.
I like the idea of more fun things to do for siblings- there is a nice park with playground equipment. But some table soccer, or some other fun games would have been cool.
overall, think the positives outweighed the negatives.
We didnt make the final, and thats ok because i have to work! But it was pretty fun- i enjoyed drinking a beer and watching a game on the balcony too!
