Nothing was said about whether the conversations happened prior to tryouts or during tryouts. It's a reasonable guess that if another club is complaining, they're complaining about conversations that happened prior to tryouts.

some of these clubs aren’t helping the kids and are holding back promising young people And their families, because they don’t want to betray the local club. Leaders, please develop and release. I’m tired of counseling your families. They aren’t really yours and you can’t do anything for players on any level.

Yeah but they really want that sweet money for basically doing nothing useful, and if you take that away, that's "poaching" because clubs feel the players are wild animals roaming on their land, that they have a right to harvest.

My son was recruited one year by an assistant on his EPD team who was an SU coach as well. The SU coach told him he was a shoe in for the Su B team and would get a solid look for the A team. I didn't hear about any of this until he told me the week before tryouts. I made him call his old RCL coach to let him know he wasn't coming back and to thank him for his effort in developing him as a player.

Fast forward to day two of tryouts and I get a call from him 1/2 through, he is in tears telling me he is on the SU C team field and the C team coached welcomed him to the team. At the break he tried to talk to the coach that recruited him but the guy wouldn't even look him in the eye. So he asks me to pick him up and take him to his old teams tryouts which started at 7.

The tryout checkin desk was closed when we got there so he ran up to his old coach and he told me before he could open his mouth, the coach said " I suppose you want your old spot back? " And when son nodded the coach said something like .....well go to the CDM spot then and don't stink it up. By the time I caught up to the field he was the only kid out there with out a bib on and looked like the happiest kid in world.

Yes on this board we skewr the terrible coaches out there that are only in it for the money or their ego or worse for both, but there are also a few gems out there that are truly in it for the kids.

SU doesn’t need to recruit. How many players go to their tryouts vs other local teams? It’s night and day. Players want to play for SU.

You know this is a fake story, because no kid in the EPD pool making a C team. Specially if they were “recruited”

SU has an impeccable reputation. They don’t need to recruit because of their success. They have never been brought up on recruiting violations period. Yes they have a very close relationship with the Sounders and think their DOC played for the Sounders. The club is aware that they don’t own the players and are happy for the players that leave to the sounders. Very different approach from friends east of the lake. Seattle with their premier/select model has proven to be an overwhelming success. They have a very healthy financial aid program that sets them apart.

Seems like a bunch of players at SU’s tryouts came from Celtic which plays in a different league. I’m not sure there is any recruiting issues when dealing with kids from a different association. Perhaps I’m wrong, but there doesn’t seem to be a pathway at Celtic, or for that matter any of the clubs from the other league.

They stole a 2011 boy from Washington Premiere, this kid was on the national ODP team. Seems like they had been talking to him for a while and convinced him to backstab his team. Pathetic.

Not correct. When my son was playing EPD and pools were bigger, his coach was from PAC and the team was loaded with PAC B team players and at least 1 C team kid. The Pac b team kids would have had a hard time making my son's club C.

As an aside, the EPD coach was always trying to get my son to move to Pac even outside of tryouts. At least they eventually got busted for recruiting violations.

Who do you contact for recruiting violations? I don't think it would be safe sport as they are in the back pocket .
