I’ve noticed that some of the tryouts overlap from the different clubs, is that done intentionally? So that the player has to choose the club they want to play for ahead of time?

yes it's to maintain the regional monopolies of clubs, and make it harder for families to research other clubs. the week before tryouts is open week and you should reach out to other clubs.coaches you are interested in so you can come train with them during the week.

By the end of day one kids will probably be on the field for the team they will make. If it's not the coach or team your interested in, I would use day 2 to tryout at your back up. By going to sessions during open week you should already have a pretty good idea if your kid would make the team.

yeah the week before tryouts in RCL you don't have to get a release to go to another clubs training session.

It is a rule, easily found on the RCL website.

One of the great scams of RCL. If you have a B team player looking to play ECNL, you might want to have your player tryout for a different club's ECNL team before returning to your existing club for RCL tryouts. The clubs will give outside players a much closer look at ECNL tryouts than their own B team players (which they have already judged and you'd probably know if there was a move-up possiblity).
