What's the deal with SCA. Apparently they are trying to play coed at the Super League Division in WPL which is against the rules. They aren't even a WA team. And now some parents have a petition alledging sexism. ???

It’s a completely joke. I hope WPL just kicks the whole club out. If she is so good and wants a higher level of play, why doesn’t she just play ECNL?

competitive lesgue, but this is a girl playing in NPL. She could easily play GA or ECNL if NPL girls aren’t “good enough.” If she doesn’t want to travel for those leagues then she can play up a couple years. Let’s not act like this is some poor kid in a rural area that just needs to play with boys for an appropriate level of competition; she lives in Portland. If she was that good, the Thorns would already be on the phone; eg, Olivia Moultrie.

Just looked at their website. Just another bunch of Brit’s trying to cash in on America’s gullible obsession with their accents and their UEFA B licenses. These guys couldn’t make the cheese they’re making here on this side of the pond. But nobody within the youth soccer world especially the big youth clubs take any of them seriously

It has happened in many leagues for many years, and playing with boys can be a part of the mix of good development opportunities for female players. At the same time, it’s also silly to think she “needs” this for a higher level of play — the stronger at age girls ECNL teams could probably hang with the wpl teams at that age.
2) it isn't necessary.
3) they are utilizing a young girl as a gimmick
i have no problem with girls playing boys, but do all girls get this opportunity? Should girls teams be disbanded altogether and have neutral gender teams?
Scrimmage the boys. You don't need to be on the same team.

She is U13. If she’s that good she could play ECNL. PSPLs rules are pretty clear. What would happen if the situation was reversed and a boy wanted to play on a girls team.

Why is it not good for her to play with older girls?
Seems like a gimmick
