Thorns also play back to back this weekend when no kids have done that in greater than 9 months. They’re definitely disadvantaged going into the Sunday matchups against Crossfire.
Thorns - Nov 7, 14, 21, 22 games
Crossfire - Nov 7, 22 games
FC - Nov 14, 21 games
Pretty bizarre scheduling by the Thorns it seems...
Maybe Thorns were trying to schedule in a bunch of games early before soccer might get shut down again? That would be pretty smart.
Means GDA was a the top league and GAL is probably better than ECNL now.
ECNL is better than GA right now, but the Oregon clubs don’t belong in either. They should, at least take a step down to GA. Believe GA will overtake ECNL as the top national league in 2-3 years regardless.

They want college football to play no matter what so soccer may luck out and get to keep playing but I would try to schedule as many games in as early as possible tool

ECNL is the established pathway to college for girls. The league now has a near monopoly on the top soccer talent in the country. ECNL probably shouldn’t have let a third club from Oregon into the league, but it happened. There will be a readjustment period over the next year with movement between teams since they all offer the same ECNL platform now. Previously, some girls and families were drawn to the allure of the DA. Now what distinguishes the clubs are the players, coaches, and club philosophies. Top players will always want to be with the best players and coaches. I don’t think there will be one superior club anytime soon, the strength will vary by age group. This year is a very strange year with the collapse of the DA at the beginning of the season and then so much time off because of Covid. Some teams are dealing with injuries. Time will tell how things shake out, but ECNL isn’t going anywhere.
😆😆 that parent was not Mark P. Mark is shorter and has an accent. That was FC parents creating a mob around 1 Thorns parent. Silly youth soccer. Rumor has it that they were the last of the 01 FC parents. Drama is always following.
This sounds a lot like a coach that was so upset that they didn't win so they shift the focus to a bad ref.
Move on.
You are right it was a Thorns parent....and the owner of the Thorns and Timbers....it was Merritt P.
Not sure what you mean by it sounds like a coach upset with refs. The incident happened while the game was happening. Lots of “do you know who I am” and yes there was a homophobic comment to accommodate the multiple f bombs

So says the anonymous expert with no experience or credentials. CU is a top ranked ECNL club. FC Portland has been a failure and time will tell for the Thorns.
This is yet another typical soccer idiot talking down ECNL because they aren’t part of it.
