Expect everyone to be really conservative on this. Oregon will not want to take risks when their neighbor is proceeding cautiously.
I assume they will do exactly as California did and push everything back.

I think no sports
There are so many high school and college conference cancelling and postponing it is only a matter of time for OSAA doing the same.

I am hoping that there will be extensive studies on the effects of the shut down of schools and sports on the psychological health of our youth.
It’s going to be 100,000 times greater than the .00039 chance of dying of covid-19.
I know people in their cozy homes with high speed WiFi, big backyards to play in, plenty of money in the bank etc., will be ok. This is a nightmare for tens of thousands of kids in the metro area who aren’t so fortunate.

With a much greater focus on academics supported by family first, neighborhoods, and then the larger community we will begin to a see a change is economic diversity that is growing larger and larger.
Sports give kids in poverty: structure, discipline, camaraderie and in many cases it gives them a pathway to college. It keeps them: off their phones, off the streets, out of the parks loitering, it keeps the good looking low-income girl from spending too much time with boys at a young age. In many cases a good coach provides a parent like figure that many don't have at home.
Good coaches pay attention to grades. A lot of football players are only keeping their grades up in order to stay on the football team.
For higher income kids, sports keeps them from trouble. Idle time is the biggest enemy of kids. Keep them busy and teach them good habits and those usually carry on for the rest of their lives.

So spare me your sanctimonious BS about the have and have not kids/families. My child is a have not in the grand scheme of things. But, he does have his health. He has both parents, and he is learning about character right now. Don't rely on sports to teach your kids about life and character, be a parent and do it yourself. This is the new normal, and amateur hour is over.
