Nearly all teenage Girls across this country love playing recreational HS Soccer, be it with a Frosh, JV2, JV or even their Varsity side. This is why an elite best of the best no HS allowed DA level is so limited to the number of players and clubs that could ever commit to this platform since it involves giving up recreational HS activities.
Playing with your local club and having a season of HS Soccer works for 99% of the girls in the nation. Let the elite future WC stars play in a DA setting and the SOP for decades of girls playing in a local neighborhood club & HS continues to thrive and be a great option.
Girls in states just don't go pro in Soccer and as we all know they don't make any real living wage chasing a 'pro' deal. Title IX has created so many opportunities for girls in the activity of college soccer that there are even local clubs that cater to a travel, combine/showcase model as a way of matching the supply with the demand.
Calling anything about this reality a 'debate' is disingenuous to the term debate. If a girl is world class level, she is in the top shelf of talent in the USA for example she will be involved with US Soccer National Teams and the DA. The rest of the girls are happy playing in HS and local clubs.
The 'we must travel mantra or spin' peddled by clubs is quite sticky and really just a reaction to title ix funding for girls soccer. Take it or leave it. Outcomes for college are the same.
