WA has one gda & 5 ecnl clubs. OR has one gda and two ecnl. The NLNC is as watered down as it gets but that’s the way it is now for oysa teams. You don’t get to pick your competition. -

Others may be dealing egotistical coaches swimming in the swamps of political bias making it hard for others to just ‘enjoy watching their kid play’. My kid is on their last year of club and I hope you can take my advice. I wish I would have switched them out of the negative environment sooner. There are plenty of clubs and coaches, if you feel that your kid is being treated unfairly get out now. What’s interesting is that more kids are staying on oysa teams that used to be mid-bottom ranked but now are top 3 in OYSA/NLNC due to almost all the better teams leaving to ecnl/gda. Those OYSA parents and players have the perception that they are on a top winning team in the state since they never play the better ecnl/gda teams. The opposite seems true for gda/ecnl. If a player isn’t getting playing time or plays but isn’t getting recruited to colleges, the player usually quits ecnl/gda and doesn’t go back to a weaker oysa team, even though they’d be an impact player. Having played in gda/ecnl those players know how weak oysa has become. Just generalizing observations here. There are obviously exceptions to all of this. Just wondering if the net effect is even further dilution of soccer in general because lesser players are staying in soccer due to the perception that they are better than they are and better players are quitting soccer due to the perception that they are worse than they are.Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment
