WA has one gda & 5 ecnl clubs. OR has one gda and two ecnl. The NLNC is as watered down as it gets but that’s the way it is now for oysa teams. You don’t get to pick your competition.

Honest question. Why do people obsess on here so much about how much soccer around here sucks? I watch my kids play and they are having a good time. Don't understand why people crap on soccer as if these kids are going to go pro. Chill out, bruh.

Nothing is as bad as fc Portland ecnl. 2-3 oysa teams in ever age group are better.

This isn’t even a question anymore.

Thorns probably would have MAYBe one team that’s best in state but no more.

Well then you have nothing to worry about. Enjoy your ‘chilling’. Others may be dealing egotistical coaches swimming in the swamps of political bias making it hard for others to just ‘enjoy watching their kid play’. Hope that answers your honest question.

My kid is on their last year of club and I hope you can take my advice. I wish I would have switched them out of the negative environment sooner. There are plenty of clubs and coaches, if you feel that your kid is being treated unfairly get out now. If your kid wants to play college soccer they will need a coach that stands behind them.

The best league in our area is Washington’s BECNL. This is hands down no argument.

OYSA and national league are second/third tier

Agreed. The BECNL are the first teams. 2nd and 3rd teams are playing OYSA and NL.

What’s interesting is that more kids are staying on oysa teams that used to be mid-bottom ranked but now are top 3 in OYSA/NLNC due to almost all the better teams leaving to ecnl/gda. Those OYSA parents and players have the perception that they are on a top winning team in the state since they never play the better ecnl/gda teams. The opposite seems true for gda/ecnl. If a player isn’t getting playing time or plays but isn’t getting recruited to colleges, the player usually quits ecnl/gda and doesn’t go back to a weaker oysa team, even though they’d be an impact player. Having played in gda/ecnl those players know how weak oysa has become. Just generalizing observations here. There are obviously exceptions to all of this. Just wondering if the net effect is even further dilution of soccer in general because lesser players are staying in soccer due to the perception that they are better than they are and better players are quitting soccer due to the perception that they are worse than they are.

Are there even any Oregon teams in that league besides Timbers (sort of)?

So many tiers, how does one keep it straight?

Which? At one age group I know of that was formerly DA, only Washington Timbers plays in becnl. And they aren't better than the teams who ended up stuck in oysa

Once the WA clubs switched to becnl, it became the best overall league in the area. Same with girls ecnl. Exceptions but best overall.

Well, yeah? The two top WA teams are on a level with TA. Then OYSA teams and the rest of WA are in a tier below.

Development Academy on the boys side is best league.
