She is great kid and a great family. I don't think she got into Stanford because of soccer. She is a smart kid and her sister already goes there. It was just a case of the Thorns taking something out of context to purposely mislead. Are you surprised?

Are you sure? I read in the Bend newspaper that Thorns was such an elite program that they had a player committed to Stanford? I find it hard to believe they’d lie to a newspaper!

Maybe we are talking about a different player.

You should post the link to the article here

“While Kreutzer, originally from Florida, is not as far along in the college recruiting process, her dream school is Florida State.

Over the last two years, 24 girls from the Thorns academy have committed to colleges, including eight in the class of 2019 to the likes of the University of Oregon and Stanford, according to the club’s website (www.port landthornsacademy.com.)

“I want to help each of our athletes maximize their potential and reach their dreams and be in an environment that’s conducive to development,” Schott, the academy director, says. “That’s the goal for us.””

Most of the 2018 girls were products of other clubs. I see only 4 girls in 2019 that made it to D1. 1 turned down an offer. This really isn’t that impressive compared to other club results the past several years.

Thorns didn’t lie to the newspaper. They just allowed the newspaper to use their lies on their website and didn’t bother to correct them. That’s our “tip of the pyramid elite girls program” in action!

Why aren’t the girl’s parents demanding that the Thorns remove her name? I doubt they want her to be linked to lies about being on a sport’s team at Stanford when they’re not...varsity blues has left a very bitter taste at Stanford, in particular!

Thorns NWSL program is the world's leading brand and the flagship for best of the best in the world of professional women's soccer. Being associated with the best (Thorns) is not something refused or denied. You are a complete insecure tool.

The poster who knows the family should let them know about the lie that is being perpetrated in their daughter’s name. I certainly wouldn’t want my kid saying they’re on a college soccer team that they aren’t. This whole thing blew up because of the UCLA girl that wasn’t on the team!

The page says "college commitments". If the girl in question received a verbal from Stanford, then it's not a lie to put her there, even if she isn't playing college soccer.

Do you know anything about her? Was the verbal rescinded by the Stanford coach, or did the girl simply decide to focus on academics and forego college soccer? (Being a student-athlete at Stanford, which is both an athletic powerhouse and an academically elite institution, is VERY hard to do; I wouldn't blame her one bit if she decided to put the books ahead of the boots).

Stanford soccer, even as water girl, was never offered. Great student and nice girl but didn’t even play much on the academy team. Both parents also went to Stanford so it’s surprising they would let Thorns put a lie about her on their website. Regular students apply and are “admitted”. Only recruited athletes are “committed”. Thorns are definitely presenting and perpetuating a lie using her good name. Now the Bend newspaper has unwittingly spread that lie even further. Sad. If she and her parents aren’t demanding it be taken down or noted that it’s just as a student only, then they are complicit at this point. That would be even sadder.

It is not a lie technically. She is committed to go to Stanford, but it was not for soccer. I am sure there are players who play on a rec team who are committed to go to D1 colleges... just not to go play soccer.

That is odd. Why would would the Thorns allow this or the family allow this?

I’m surprised the parents are allowing it to continue. Tarnishes the girl’s record and reputation.

How did it tarnish the girl’s reputation?

                                She is going to Stanford.
