This is interesting. Spill the details OYSA..
So OYSA leagues aren't run by a non-profit? This is confusing. Why don't we have a non-profit running the oregon leagues? Wouldn't that lower the cost opening up access to more kids?

Doesn't really matter to me but I would love to see the league fees cut in half. If we could get a non-profit organization to run the OYSA leagues wouldn't it theoretically lower the costs?

First, OYSA doesn't run leagues, they sanction leagues.

By allowing a for profit company to manage leagues, scheduling etc.....they use a competitive environment to get the best cost and value. The Portland Timbers and Thorn do not have a monopoly on the OYSA sanctioned leagues.

Non profits goals are to further the cause not to benefit the organization financially. Non profit clubs make decisions on what is best for the community they serve.

That is the general idea but that isn't how they are being used here in Oregon. Just follow up on the finances.....

Since OYSA is a non profit they should publish the contract and terms and the payments. Just so everyone is clear. Seems like a lot of money to be made on leagues and cups.

All of that info is public knowledge. You only have to email or call them and they will provide it.

Do you even need that? I thought you paid the league and state cup fees directly to the Timbers and card fees directly to the OYSA ?

                    Could be wrong.

I bet the Timbers are making serious money taking over the leagues from OYSA. Good for them. This is the USA and capitalism is not bad.
