SCA - please tell who you will register with? Will you get access to OYSA leagues?

Integrity would want to be the best by beating the best, not by simply excluding the best. This goes for all of oysa as well as gda/da and ecnl. Oregon should rise above and our top teams from all three leagues should be playing each other multiple times and supporting each other. Until then, Oregon soccer will remain mediocre and our talented, hard working players won’t develop to their full potential.

In your team’s case, your girls are living the Nike dare to dream and they all have impactful college essay material about taking the path less travelled and surviving despite all the road blocks and exclusion. Good luck to your players and all the players in Oregon!
Trying to stop them year after year?? SCA is a new club and hasn’t even played any games yet. How do you know they will be one of the best? Maybe they will, maybe they won’t.

I think the issue is that SCA keeps telling families that they are definitely OYSA...first it was that they were going to be a full member and then it changed to partnering with a non-profit club. OYSA has confirmed that SCA is not an oysa member and that for profit clubs cannot partner with nonprofit clubs. Things are just not adding up.

Their aim and motive hasn't changed, Monetize the cheapest sport in the world to play. What a novel concept. Turn it into a business of selling nothing and getting paid in Oregon. Brillant.

My unsolicited advise: if you have signed up for SCA, don’t pay the full tuition upfront. Select monthly installments. Good luck!

The directors have openly said that this year will be oy training and scrimmages. They said they will apply the following year to play in leagues.

Since they aren't in OYSA.. parents who decide to leave can do so, without having to worry about them pulling your kid's card and preventing you from transferring elsewhere if you decide it isn't worth it to pay for an entire year.

Ok so I hope this clears this up once and for all as this is a thread that appears to be on repeat.

                1. SCA Is not a member of OYSA.
                2. SCA Is not officially partnering with a club to play OYSA.
                3. SCA Teams will train x3 days a week and play scrimmages/tournaments (US Club cards)
                4. SCA Players will play for a OYSA club separate from SCA this year. Meaning these players will be registered players with this club and not SCA for league entry.

All of the above meets the OYSA conditions. Will SCA do this long term? Unlikely as it dilutes their brand. Will OYSA let them into the league or officially partner with a club long term? Unlikely, too much pressure from big established club who feel threatened by this small club.

When did he start telling people this? I was told by the director and one of the coaches that they would be OYSA.

So I'm assuming that SCA dues are in addition to the dues for the OYSA club? Is there a formal agreement with a particular club (one that meets OYSA's requirements) for SCA kids to play and be registered with that club... or is this essentially a personal-training business that is separate from any club, and kids who want to play in a state league have to sign up for a club AND for SCA?

(I'm sorry, but every time I hear the acronym "SCA", I think about college kids getting drunk off their ass and staging sword fights in the woods with weapons and armor made of cardboard and tinfoil)

Not sure how much OYSA is getting pressure from established clubs on this. Hard to believe, but it appears OYSA took up on themselves to really scrutinize new applicants.

Big clubs are pushing on: (i) club standards in general (has more to do with how teams are placed initially), (ii) clarity on recruiting and player transfers and (iii) Timbers relationship (at least some).

Maybe that is influencing the way OYSA is looking at new applicants, but I don't think it can be understated how much of a headache startup clubs can be for OYSA, especially after some of them started with big promises and end without paying their bills.

So a kid trains 3x at SCA, 2x at club and plays 1-2 games per week?

Full SCA dues and full club dues and all other associated costs?

Is this how it is set up in England where SCA has had success? As a training academy with no teams?

There is an agreement between them (didn't use that acronym for you :) ) and a club yes. Haven't seen it so couldn't tell you. I assume so otherwise the whole thing would be pointless if it didn't satisfy OYSA requirements.

So the million dollar question that SCA seems to be avoiding...what club will the kids play in the league with? Funny how on their website it says transparency is one of the club values or something like that.

                              1. No - Trains x3 per week with SCA and scrimmage on occasion. Plays club for a team with same players and same coach but not SCA.
                              2. Not sure on this.
                              3. No - Obviously the OYSA issue has proven to be an obstacle. So no.

Now that GOT has finished this appears to be the biggest cliff hanger since John Snow was turned on by the Night's Watch, Is he dead or not? Can the red women bring him back?

LOL. It's OYSA soccer people not Champions League !
