The other Thorns teams are in last place but the 00/01 team is close to mid pack and might make the playoffs this year. If that pro girl that’s moving here plays for any of them, they’ll instantly go to first in the nation. We’re so lucky to have her. She’s so much better than any Oregon girls.

Hard to argue that she deserves playing time over arguably the best youth player in the world.

So, only one sad girl and she won’t be sad for long when she realizes it was the best thing that ever happened to her.
And a girl of this talent level would be wasting her time playing on age, or even one year up.

Whether the current #10 is benched or moved to another position remains to be seen. The other, maybe more realistic option is that the new star plays on a boys DA team. Much better for her development. The displaced boy will be sad but this is all about the new superstar. No one else matters. It’s exciting to have a true usnt player in Oregon and we can take credit for her for life now.
She could easily be a great player on the 02/03 team; 2-3 years playing up for a girl at this age is far less of a big deal.
And putting her on the boys TA team (possibly the 04s; the 05 team is somewhat weak) might make sense.
I doubt the Thorns are going to sign a player to a pro contract and then farm her off to a youth club. That said, she might be better of playing for CA Thorns than the local version.

Get some perspective. The teams might not be great but they are still kids trying hard. Why put them down?

When the top 30 clubs were in Ecnl
Oregon teams like crossfire Oregon and fc Portland were in dead last
When they moved to da crossfire Oregon and fc Portland actually came out of the bottom but tried to tell everyone they are the bestest in the country lol!
Thorns are dead last right now.
Oregon is only good when the best are not around.
The game in Oregon is trying to convince everyone you are good by association.

True, the goal differential is pretty bad but are we missing the big picture? Isn't it about development? If you are developing kids that by definition means you are making them better. So it doesn't matter how good they are as long as they are getting better.
Worrying about being in last place is misguided.
