What you need is a team that will take you out of area to find quality games and get attention (which can be done without the ECNL "brand") and you need teammates and parents who are committed to the team having those kind of travel goals (which can also be done without the ECNL "brand").

ECNL isn't the magic key to success. Everything ECNL provides can be done without the ECNL brand. The problem is too many parents think ECNL is the magic combination of words that turns a D3 player into a D1 starter. And that's not the case. Your kid is who she is. And all of you would be a lot happier and enjoy the process if you accepted that.
Laff. D1 starter at Portland State vs D3 starter at MIT, Chicago, Pomona, Amherst, Tufts, Williams, etc. Sorry Meth Teeth, using soccer to get into a great school, not a career at Winco. Gotta have the grades and test scores. Only D1 my kid is interested in is Ivy, but that is a stretch for anyone. Good luck, Winco employee of the month. Scholarship? Go return your bottles and cans.

Now bring your child to the computer, and show them what you wrote. They will be so proud of you. Reflect on what you did. You now realize what a sad human being you are turning into.

Another consideration- some of our kids have found this website on their own and read the posts. Might want to consider that when posts slam teams for losing so badly, poor talent, rude comments about their future, etc. Would you talk that way about your kid who is just trying to play soccer and get better? Think about how they are feeling right now when they can't play soccer, be with their friends, their future is unclear. The last thing they need is to read posts about how bad their team/coach is.

Depends on what you mean by compete nationally. CU 03 does. CU 06s lost out on goal differential to move to the final 4 last year in the playoffs. FC 02s are good. I think the Thorns 05s and 06s are fairly good.

In the world or 'fantasy nation' of a gutted US Club Soccer platform, without any DA level clubs in the mix. My 3 legged 16 year old dog could compete in that nation just as well the CU 03 squad. Jus sayin.

You mean DA level clubs like the Thorns and Reign and the dozens of others around the country like them???? Uh, okay. Hahahahahaha.

Right on. People say stuff anonymously on here that they would never say with their name or face attached. Granted, the regulars all know it is a free for all to try and persuade parents to move their kid away from a particular club or competition. The playbook is so old. Discouraging to hear players would be reading the some of the garbage written on here. I’d like to think they would be wise enough to completely ignore, but the reality is they won’t.

Are their parents not telling them that losing by 8 to 10 goals is a bad thing? Because if they are not, then that is a whole different thing to deal with.

"Look Penelope, losing by 12 goals is not a bad thing. It builds character. So you are not just a bad soccer player, you have built character along the way. Now run upstairs and tell your brother Winthorpe it's time for supper."

Well, you’re a total loser. How do you explain yourself to your family? Maybe Penelope’s dad can get some ideas from you.

"Penelope, fourth place in OYSA premier is a really good result."

It was THIRD place and you know it.
