Point still stands that a few years ago the 06 teams or many of the other teams in other age groups would have never been accepted to play at Surf because of a lack of a soccer resume.

It’s not bashing on any team but evidence that things have and continue to change. As another person posted Silverlakes had some high quality teams and in deed that tournament did. Dilution is a real thing as evidence by different leagues and competing tournaments. The landscape has changed and is constantly evolving. There are some who pay attention to the trends and movements of soccer and those who follow blindly. Oregon and SW teams are often last invited to the party because we are not seen as a powerhouse.

Surf is still a great tournament to play different teams and challenge a team. Winning is a great accomplishment but again it’s not the same accomplishment it was a few years back due to the changes occurring.

No self loathing, team bashing or negative talk and yes, I watch games.

I discuss real observations and trends that I have seen. My views are not always favorable or appreciated and I’m ok with that. I stand strong that leagues, tournaments are all diluted and changing. Please don’t take offense of the use of the 06s as an example.

Oh yeah 06 parents, take note of who’s on your elite team because by the time they are seniors about 1/2 won’t even be playing soccer anymore. Sad truth!

    Lots of kids drop out.

Crossfire Oregon 06 DA lost their first game by only two...two touchdowns that is.

Yes but the experienced gained in the loss is invaluable as our kids DEVELOP into ACADEMY warriors. Pride is our mantra and losing is not our goal but it also develops our character in unspoken transformational ways that you wouldn't understand.

That is true. There is a lot of character being developed when each of the 10 teams in the bracket have played one game and a single team gave up 40% of all of the total goals scored and was one of only two teams to have not scored themselves. On the bright side, tomorrow they play the other team who couldn't put one in and only lost by one touchdown, but did block the extra point. It will be a riveting game.

Uh, no. Whoever signed you up for that group doesn't know anything about your kids and the landscape they're playing in. Your coach/TD is either: a) delusional; or b) clueless. Not sure which is worse.

We do kids in Oregon a disservice by not properly training them, signing off on all their ski trips, telling them they're "elite", taking them to tournaments they have no business attending, and then saying "oh it was a great experience."

Being this mickey mouse is a choice.

Going to a tournament and losing by 3-4 goals a game, you can learn something from.

Losing by 14--kids learn nothing from that sort of humiliation.

The kids at Crossfire's DA--have done nothing wrong. Nothing in this comment should be interpreted as derogatory to any of them. It appears they were put in a bad situation.

But the DoC--and the parents--ought to have a little chat with the coach when he gets back, as to why the club's and the parent's money was squandered on such a travesty. And the coach probably ought to apologize to the families who spent a lot of time and money to compete in a tournament in which they are way over their head. NONE of the local boys teams has any business doing super black (or academy black) at Surf. The girls at CU, have done well. But Crossfire's boys have been done a grave disservice it appears.

Hope the 05s do better; their game starts in about 20 minutes.

Now now, I'm sure the Crossfire DA 05s will do better.

Well, they at least they did keep it to a touchdown and a safety.

Gotta marvel at the cluelessness it takes to be the 4th best 05 boys team in OR and think, "Yeah, let's take a crack at the top tier of Surf cup."

In fairness to the Crossfire 05 DA, there's only one DA bracket in the 05 group. Snohomish United also got thumped, as did Washington Rush.

Even WPFC, a team that is capable of competing with the top California DAs, lost their first game, albeit by only 1-0.

I know it must be overwhelming to feel like you have all this control and power on an anonymous chat board. However, if you'll just step back from your incessant need to tell everybody that you are right, or that you are better than them, and in general try to make everybody feel as bad about themselves as you do about your own self... you would realize the crossfire finished third in the Oregon DA. Now I know your son plays for Timbers da and you really want to doubt it that team as being the best team in Oregon, but we both know it is not. Even with the addition of a couple of your son's old teammates from FC Portland your team is still weak. and I seem to remember that team getting trounced by Seattle teams love to see them play a team like FC Strikers here into the score would be the same if not worse. Remember the da showcase last November? Your team and every other team from or Oregon was embarrassed. Crossfire however was not. Which is why they were invited to Surf cup and your team was not.

Apparently the Crossfire honk thinks he knows who the TA honk is, and that it's an ex-FC honk.

                              LET'S GO PORTLAND timbers!

Gotta marvel at the cluelessness of someone who thinks there are three local DA teams that are better than Timbers Academy.
