Last time I checked, Ecnl wasn’t getting anyone’s good players anymore. Not sure how anyone can refute that.

They struggle and their league was gutted to holy hell. This is undisputedable.

Crossfire United ECNL: strong history of girls teams. Has most talented teams in state. Cost can be a factor in recruiting.
All of Oregon has gotten more and more diluted. Five or six options at each age level that all have good and bad.

Wouldn’t be the best in state at all but maybe 1 age group. Maybe.

FC Portland is a joke now.
Crossfire United lies all the time but when they play teams outside of their gutted league they lose or get embarrassed. Not really sure how you can call sub par teams in a dilluted league talented.

They didn’t even get more college commits than salmon creek this year...let that sink in.

Says a lot about the 10k a year and propaganda they sell non stop.

Perhaps salmon creek should claim OYSA is elite. It has more validity than cu this year.

they lost nearly every game until 80% of the top teams left and now they say they are the best.

Not really any great options right now. Some good ones. Before the Timbers got involved we had some consolidation of talent. Now it’s spread all over. No good solution in sight.

Best teams are going back to ECNL. Elite players do not like the da rules. Just makes for more confusion and dilution of talent.

Let's blame everything on the Timbers.

I assume you are talking about the girls side since the boy's are somewhat more consolidated now because of the Timbers.

Before the Timbers the talent on the girl's side was split between FC Portland, THUSC, and Lake Oswego.

If there is a decline in available good soccer options in Oregon it is because of the leadership at the clubs. The standard is set pretty low. It would not take much for one club to take over if their offering was slightly better. You see that with CU. People are heading to CU because the product is marginally better than what is available.

Like their mirror or copycat local club sister FC P, both clubs offer extensive travel for their neighborhood girls teams.

If travelling quite a bit on your own dime is your fancy consider FC p & CU absolutely.

To date, very few tryout or gravitate to the pay to travel model each offers.

No other local club has this extreme travel model.

Most club coaches would rather have kids working with ball vs sitting on tarmacs, or planes, in lounges or rented vans.

I am not sure if you really have a clue when you say very few tryout or gravitate to the pay to travel model each offers.

No other local club has this extreme travel model because no other club plays in the ECNL league.

The Thorns DA have a more extreme travel model because they play in the DA league and travel 10 months of the year. Their travel is most subsidized by the Timbers so is less expensive.

Most of the top coaches on the girls side are coaching either ECNL or DA so again I am not sure if you have a clue on what is going on.

All the top neighborhood club teams travel extensively as well and cost almost as much as fcp or cu and actually cost more than the subsidized academy. Club soccer on a good team is very expensive no matter which league so choose which ever one your DDs like the best.

If you are an Elite player you don’t have to make sacrifices so it makes sense you will not give things up.

Having attended both FC P and CU club tryouts the last 2 years the player turnout is quite low since the cost to travel is so high, we were invited to tryout by coaches at both local clubs. This reveal isn’t some dirty secret that interest is low, it’s simple economics and core values. Once again local clubs with better teams than CU & FC have never considered making the kids travel for travel sake. Oregon club teams have no need to travel across the country over 9 months especially since our top talent pool is so low + the presence of a bona fide US Soccer DA in town gives top players n funded avenue that is more attractive locally. The formation of the US Soccer DA platform for Girls has gutted the league the FC P and CU elected to join, this is a fact.

I guess top coach in Oregon girls club Soccer is a relative term. Compared to the local recreational volunteer coach they may be a tad bit more experienced. Come on, stop fooling yourself we have no Coaches with any body of work that would earn the distinction of ‘Top coach’. We do have some taller than average midgets though.

This is true, this is why the average players families must sacrifice time and thousands of dollars on useless travel. Great point.

Our alliance club team cost as much last year as playing ecnl and more than playing da.

What has more validity is the right coach and team.

                                Leagues don’t mean jack.

Anson Dorrance commented on the same thing in soccer America article.
