I am sure the TA teams will do a fine job.
the Thorns are now at Westside Timbers. Eastside just muddied the waters by becoming the Eastside Thorns.

How does Eastside fit into this?

        They are renting fields

I know the Westside is doing some admin for the Thorns DA but Eastsdie is just renting some fields. Maybe Eastsdie should take over the Thorns. They have a brand new facility and are expanding it. They seem to understand the mission of youth sports and manage their money and programs in a way that benefits the community.

It might be that Eastside didn't have much in the way of girls High School soccer?

But I don't think Eastside will be running the Thorns. I think it's Westside?

Eastside is responsible for player development. Just look at their HS girls teams to see what that means.

This is hysterical. Anyone with experience at Eastside knows this is not true. They are a club asleep at the wheel.

                Keep Sleeping

Eastside please keep sleeping because we all love those new fields and are excited to see what else you are doing out there in East County.

Hey, what other projects are happening with other clubs?

Timbers unloaded thorns on Westside and only will use eastside to rent space.

Now that you have your fields maybe you should pay attention to your members. Not just a few special teams, but everyone. While you are at it you could try to serve all of the East County and not just a portion of the demographic.

Eastside is growing and is one of the only clubs to still have a large recreational soccer program. It was reported it has a membership of 2,500 kids.

The club even offered its facility to many clubs during state cup so all the kids had great fields to play on.

They didn't "offer" the fields, they charged through the nose for them. Eastside, like WashT are so far in debt from this "fields arm race" that they are thisclose to bankruptcy. Not to forget that they've been bankrupt of player and coach talent for several years.

                            this is so funny

                            Field arms race ?

Think about what a club spends on field rentals and six figure DOC's. Building a complex is very affordable. When the club is run as a true non-profit people will give and these complexes can be great resources for the community.

Ask yourself where is my tuition dollars going for my club? You have a right to know.

Timbers Alliance isn’t a bad place to be for girls.

For some clubs, it makes more sense to rent; for others, it makes more sense to buy. Depends on how many field-hours the club needs for training, games, tournaments, and whatever else; how much real estate costs, the quality of the local parks and rec or school offerings, etc.

For smaller clubs, leasing field space almost always makes the most sense.

For clubs like FC or Westside or THUSC or PCU, located in parts of town where land is expensive but the local parks and school districts are excellent, renting also makes a lot of sense.

For WashT or Eastside--having a dedicated facility makes sense. Both clubs are large enough to take advantage, and land is cheaper.

But keep in mind--running your own fields is expensive, and involves both a lot of up-front capital expense, as well as operating expenses (maintenance, taxes) that need to be paid whether the field is used or not. If you rent from the parks district, you only pay for the time you need.

As a final note--neither Eastside nor WashT are known for overpaid directors; if anything it's the clubs that pay their staff too much that don't have the financial ability to invest in fields.
