They have caused great dilution of talent for girls. This is as bad as it has ever been.

Wish we could get the Timbers back to what they are good at which is selling hot dogs and $11 plastic cups of beer.
Timbers are running a qualty league under OYSA. Clubs are not required to buy the product they do because they like the programs.

$11 bucks for a hot dog and beer? I’ll take that deal at a professional sporting event

You know what’s not a good deal. 250k to call yourself CrossFire. Wow that is funny

$11 for a plastic cup of beer? That’s a good business.

Dilution of talent for girls is not good.

With a negative 43 goal differential. They get to fly to Florida next weekend instead of play the same old teams in the Timbers Winter Showcase.
Didn’t realize girls academy was struggling this much.

Had no idea it was subsidized by the Professional team, incredible stuff. Well done.

Problem in Oregon is dilution. Thorns are not drawing enough top talent. Ban on high school doesn’t help. At about $4,000.00 per year it is cheaper than other options.

Curios what 'top talent' are not being selected? Haven't heard of any phenoms not going to the NWSL Thorns DA program. Please list them below thanks in advance.

Lol. Pretty much sums up the thorns program and their coaches^^^^^

So far behind, so poorly informed, yet so ignorant

                      Crossfire

Certainly the talent pool is divide in Portland. It will gravitate to the Thorns. Most of the top players from FC Portland are gone.

CU is a non profit (who acts like a for profit) who is likely up streaming a portion of player fees to corp HQ Crossfire Seattle. This will change as parents realize the Thorns invest in youth soccer by subsidizing the program. The high school ban isn't a big deal. The best players in the country are more interested in top competition all year round.

They get 10-15% of the top players at most age levels. Many of the girls quit after a year. Not bad.

Once again who are the specials/phenoms that aren't in the NWSL DA Thorns program? Until you come up with at least a handful or 10 to 20 examples of these truly elite gifted playersyour posts have no significance or credibility. Which elite player(s) has come out and said they don't want to give up HS in order to play at the DA level? All we ever get is crickets and name calling from your lot and it's become the signature childish retort of the pay to travel clubs. Jus sayin you sound scared and defensive.

                            Again ignorant.

I find it hilarious you think the burden of proof is on everyone else to point out all the top players everywhere else when the thorns have players that wouldn’t make A team’s anywhere else...

DA level is currently a joke to everyone in Oregon...please tell us more about the talent there....

I wouldn’t say it’s a total joke but the academy certainly isn’t viewed very seriously on the girls side. Last place, last place and close to last place in pretty weak Northwest conf. That wouldn’t matter so much except that Thorns academy took so many bench players from OYSA teams. Everyone knows the academy has some top players but way too many weak players to be taken seriously. Same thing in NorCal. Most of the best clubs and best players stayed ecnl.

Prior to the Nationwide Girls DA many of the Top clubs (not Oregon) played in the US Club ecnl, then they all left for the new DA last year. When these top clubs faced our neighborhood clubs our locals fared far worse than the Thorns DA.
