Dude....it was the first year. Next year will be Like vs Like with the schedule. It will be set up so they finish about .500. The better you do, the better the comp you get.

Look at the Crossfire United U15 team. They will have the toughest schedule of all. Good team but it will look like they did worse when in fact they will be playing in front of 50 plus scouts next year in out Showcases....that is a fact. This is a win and what it is all about.

The US Club girls league (ECNL) had such a dramatic top club gutting in 2017-18 that a regular sister of the poor club (CU) went from worst in the league to top of the league without any talent additions from the state. The dropoff doesn't get any steeper than this my friend. NWSL Thorns Academy selections do 'give up' HS Soccer but they don't give up all their college savings, this trade off is not even a discussion. Als, if you're playing in a league that has one of our neighborhood clubs as the top of table you are back playing in the OPL. So be it. Enjoy the costs of stupidity.

My college savings is doing great! Stupidity is playing in a league that is falling apart, while giving up HS soccer, not being able to do another sport, and getting no better coaching than anywhere else in the state.

Community College doesn't require much savings, understood.

Stupidity is the essence & fabric of your bizarre posting. Why does the US Soccer DA get you so worked up and flustered, it's not for you. Move on.

20K fans at each game. Hopefully they can make it.

                Got it.

Have local clubs join the US Club offering for girls. Seems to do the trick.

Well, if you're gonna lie, I guess we have to break out the stats:

                      https://soccerstadiumdigest.com/2017-nwsl-attendance/

To summarize, Thorns led the pack - at 17k average attendance. Not 20k. Still quite good, but you lied.

Second place was Orlando - at 6k. Talk about a steep drop off.

Average attendance for the 10 teams in the league was 5083 in 2017. So again, you lied.

And just because math is fun, let's figure out what the average attendance would have been without the outlier Thorns included - that number is 3,686 per game.

I am a supporter of NWSL and would love to see them succeed. Wasting money on the academy teams, giving scholarships to parents driving Range Rovers, doesn't meet any of the stated goals of the GDA program. It also bleeds money away from the NWSL teams and US Soccer. Our professional women and national teams deserve better pay. Our best players are flooding overseas, not because the competition is better, but because they can actually make a living wage over there. The best players leaving makes the product on the field less exciting and will hurt attendance even more. If you think any for profit investor will continue to bleed money into a team averaging 5000 or less in attendance, you are delusional.

The game I went to had over 20K, jus sayin, no fibbing.

The Thorns are succeeding on the pitch and in the stands with or without your love.

Why does it bother you they invest so heavily in our local youth girls & boys? They are giving back to our community and you are whining about it. Why? The investment is for future players, you tool. MP has the sweetest deal in the MLS & NWSL exclusive use of Providence Park for decades without the costs of 'owning' the centerpiece of Portland outdoor sports. He is keeping all the profits until the gig is up or he can turn his dads 25million MLS investment into 250million with a new owner.

What are you really bitter about? It's not the Thorns or their DA. Do tell.

Investing the difference of any soccer 'savings' in a 8% return instrument is not going to make an appreciable dent in college money. The scholarship dollars, if your kid gets them, is just sweet gravy. Quit acting like 3K/year 'savings' (arguable) is going to pay for Stanferd. Old BS!

                            FC Portland ECNL is worse

Portland thorns DA is probably worse than both at this point.

Top 25 teams in USYS would go 5-0 on any ECNL or DA team in Oregon.

Face it, you are dillusional to think that a schedule change somehow has turned mediocre teams into elite??

                            Someone lied to you.
You just keep posting the same crap from one age group. Here... why don’t you post the rest of the age group results from this tournament you keep citing.

                            http://events.gotsport.com/events/De...?eventid=56620

Take a hard look, CU won at U14, U15 and U17. Nothing delusional about those results!!!

The best competition that the CU u15 girls had was from the Crossfire Premiere u14 GDA Team from Washington. They would get pounded by the u15 GDA Team. On the bright side, PAC NW Maroon, who lost tonCU 5-0 will be in ECNL now.

                                Girls example;
club Travel team cost: 10 to 12K for 5 years = 50 to 60K spent.

                                US Soccer DA expenses over 5 years 3k x 5yr = 15K Spent

$45K saved for college. jus sayin, that's without interest :)
