    Welcome Back

I am sorry the little DA is gone. If sound like it was a good experience for many kids. I hope the clubs can keep many of the thing you enjoyed in the system with OYSA

Exactly! It wasn’t perfect, but it raised the bar for my younger compared to what my older son went through a few years ago in the same age group range at the same club.

Is the Thorns DA not run by the Thorns any more? It seems that this program is now part of Westside Timbers.

          I disagree.

It actually lowered the competitive bar for my youngest who played the last 3 years in the small league setup, compared to my oldest who didn't play without the Timbers DA in operation. The few teams my youngest played were all impacted by the Timbers extracting so much of their top talent to their platform, it made for a weaker league each year. The structural changes were interesting but its too bad the best Oregonians couldn't have played in it.

I kept records of the entire 07 season. UPDX was behind WATFC by 2 points at the winter break. Pretty sure they are still within 3 points with the final Spring season added into the accounting.

it will be interesting how these teams move forward after the TA rapture. I read quite a few adf kids went to wash t as backfill but haven’t heard anything about updx

I am calling BS. "The best Oregonians?" Please tell who that would have been? The B teams left in OYSA?

Not that it really matters or counts for anything, but all the scores from the 2007 games are posted on the USSDA site...just have to click the download button to get the Excel Spreadsheet. 06 and 05 scores are easily found, but have to go one extra step to see the 07 scores.

                    FINAL 2007 STANDINGS (GP - Win - Draw - Loss - Points)

                      Oysa

In the end it all ways comes back to OYSA the best league in Oregon

                      OPL, Now OYSA
                      Little DA, Now OYSA
Got to DA or GDA, Highly likely you will return to OYSA
Play ECNL, you club probably has a team in OYSA.

OYSA AKA The Thunder Dome as someone put it on this thread. You can't escape the Thunder Dome !!!

And our coach purposefully gave my sons team restrictions to slow them down...combine that with lots of player movement and to still finish that far ahead. Wow! The team got better at tryouts by the way.

A league without standings to help focus on development and to restrict clubs that focus on play to win. Seems like nobody really bought into the purpose of this structure in the first place.

Not OP, but it's pretty obvious where the best Oregonians were the last couple of years, the Timbers DA. This little local club league called DA was the leftover league after the TA took the top players. The OYSA had some talented teams as well but the best of the best were at the DA.

The results in the little DA over the past few years had no relevance on the HS ages u15 to u19.

No standings !!! Everyone gets a juice box and a trophy. How do you measure yourself against the competition, by height ?

Why even play in this league if none of that really mattered in the first place? Pointless to rely on leagues to set standards if your club isn't able to do so on their own.

I didn't imply that development was not measured. You imply that development is only equal to wins and lossess at the youth ages. Narrow vision and understanding leads to narrow and limited results.
